Poured from a 750 into a Duvel tulip

A- pours a lovely shade of dark orange with a very slight red tint to it with a three finger offwhite head. Excellent lacing. I adore how this looks

S- it smells just like the regular Jai Alai, with a ton more papaya. I love this. So strong and juicy smelling...great

T- a lot of papaya, as you'd expect. It's mainly sweet, and there's just a slight bit of bitterness to it...I'd actually say it's a little too sweet and juicy, but still very nice

M- not too syrupy, but it is very thick. The standard Jai Alai is a lot like that, too

O- damn good beer, but reminds me more of a DIPA than a single IPA. No matter, still very enjoyable and I'm glad it's bottled now

750 ml bottle poured into my ccb tulip.

A: Clear, copper color. The pour dropped an enormous three finger head that left nice lace.

A: Very similar to regar jai alai. A hefty malt profile balances the hops nicely. Big citrus, grapefruit, orange, pineapple, and papaya.

T: Much like the nose. Big citrus profile with orange, papaya, and grapefruit. Caramel malts are big in this one also. Finishes dry with a little too much alcohol.

M: crisp and clean. Spot on carbonation.

O: I thought this was very similar to the original base beer. The papaya get lost in the complexities of jai alai. Still a very soild treatment, just wish the papaya was a little more prevalent. Skal.

A-dark amber with a lot of off white colored head

S-a lot of nice grassy hops enriched with lush papaya. its not a strong scent, but its a great one

T-comes in with a bold taste of grass and some papaya. it then transforms in to a strong bitterness. the after-taste is very bitter with some tropical fruit punch flavor. this is definitely a tasty beer, i'm just having a difficult time finding the hops.

M-has a good creamy medium carbonation with a slightly dry finish

D-tonight, i'm really glad this came in a 750mL bottle. half of this would not have been enough. tomorrow, i'll be sad i can't go out and find 6-packs of this. the beer started off mediocre, but the more you drink it, the better and better it becomes. i'll be craving the flavor for a long time.

Appearance: Generates a massive head that sits atop the clear amber liquid; the retention is excellent and there are plenty of lacing strands left around the pint glass

Smell: Tropical fruits with loads of pith; a combination of both citrus and other elements; hard to pick up the papaya but papaya is not a fruit that is particularly sweet or fragrant

Taste: Hop forward, with citrusy bitterness dominant; by mid-palate, the papaya can be discerned underneath, but I would not have picked it out had it not been clearly identified as an ingredient; clean malt flavors provide a nice backdrop for the tropical flavors

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Glad I found a bottle of this on a recent trip to Miami but as it does have a bit of age on it, I wonder whether the papaya and citrus would have been more vivid in its early days

A- orange body with a creamy ivory head and lots of lacing

S-tropical fruits, sweet

T- fruit, sweet malts up front, finishes with a nice bitter citrus hop bite

M- medium body, moderate carbonation, not crisp but refreshing

O- a very refreshing beer. Not the best jai alai variation but a solid take

Had this at CCB on tap. Poured an orange/amber with a two-finger, off-white head. Nose is pine, sugar/molasses and dried fruit. I DO like the taste of this - hops evident up front but they quickly give way to fruit and malt. Bitterness is meduim and what is there is moderated by the sweetness, especially in the finish. For me, there is a very pleasing aftertaste. Mouthfeel is heavier than medium, there is moderate carbonation and it is, not surpringly, a little sticky. Wish I could get more of this as I preferred it over the other Jai Alai's i have tried.

I had this on-tap at the pub but this is available in bottles now... Pours a dark peach, not much retention or lacing... The aroma is boring, very sweet, a hint of topical fruits, I guess papaya, with hops and tons of alcohol. Way too much alcohol, reminds me of a dipa... The taste isn't much better, shows off notes of a generic fruit with lots of alcohol.

Boring with too much alcohol, papaya added nothing.

On-tap at CCB's Fruit in the Room event

This Jai Alai variant reminds me of less-fresh examples of Jai Alai, when the malt starts to show heavy notes and the hop fades into orange-blossom and pine resin nuances. Apparently the fruit picked up certain sweet elements and toned down or muted some bitter and fruity notes that existed in the base IPA. Other than that, it has pretty similar appearance, feel and drinkability.

On cask at Cigar City takes NYC event at Rattle 'N' Hum. Fruitiness. papaya aroma, much sweeter than it is bitter. You must like papaya and what it does for your digestion. Interesting and good palate cleanser and changeup from all the cedar/imperial stouts.

A: Pours a nice amber hue with a tall white head. Good retention and lace.

S: Nice citrus aroma with mild more tropical fruit notes. The Papaya did not really come through very much.

T: Lots of citrus, mild pine and a very light dash of the tropical fruit. Medium in body, smooth great carbonation.

M: Medium in body, smooth refreshing.

D: Good wish it had a bit more of the tropical fruit character.
