Poured from growler into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown (reddish hue when held to light) with a small layer of mocha colored head.

Smell: Brown sugar, roasted malt, toffee, hint of coffee and subtle aroma of yeast.

Taste: Sweet brown sugar, toffee, candied pecans, roasted malt and a tiny bit of yeast, although not over powering. Very very tasty.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied and very smooth.

Drinkability: The growler took me a couple of days to polish off and this was a one off, so I'm probably never going to get this beer again, but it is very enjoyable and at 5.5, it doesn't overpower.

big thanks to G311 for the growler...

growler opened i'd guess 8 days after fill, shipped (without issue) in the heat last week from PA to IN.

poured from growler a chocolaty brown to a dogfish head signature glass with a 1/2 finger tan / mocha short lasting head that left a bit of lacing after each sip.

aroma of nutty burnt brown sugar and creamy espresso.

much more coffee forward than i expected, in fact, it's so up front, i'm thinking coffee stout as i sip. later it sweetens up and the coffee is still forward, but it settles a bit and more of the sweet nutty brown malt shines through fading to subtle notes of dark chocolate.

very smooth to the tongue, light to maybe medium carbonation - though i'm wondering if a bit of the carbonation may have faded during shipment.

at 5.5% this is very drinkable and this 64oz bottle isn't going to last the night.

A: Pours an amberish brown hue with a cream colored head. Nice retention and lace exhibited.

S: Lots of rich malt sweetness. Loads of caramel and brown sugar, with hints of Belgian yeast.

T: Malty sweetness for sure. Lots of caramel, and brown sugar. The pecans are there along with Belgian yeast. Hints of mild spice. To be honest the flavor kind of reminds me of the candied pecans they sell at the small stand in the center of the mall.

M: Medium in body, smooth, lots of sweetness.

D: Enjoyable, but too sweet to consume loads of this one.
