Pours a hazy orange in color with a sticky, foamy head that reduces quickly in my glass.
Big, woody aroma of oak and hops. Reminds me of spices like rosemary and thyme, for some reason.
The taste is also spicy, no doubt from the oak. The hop flavors are also there, but mixed in with all the woody notes. This is a very interesting flavor. It tastes like the beer was made with herbs. Quite powerful.
Nice hefty body.
The oak may be a bit too much for me, but overall this is a beer worth trying. It's quite different from Cigar City's Humidor cedar version of the same IPA.

A - light IPA in appearance. Looks light and refreshing in glass.
S - Hop city here with a dash of sweaty old gym sock. Funk Town, USA.
T - kind of disappointing. This is a workout. Albeit, I am not a serious hophead, I do appreciate a good IPA. This thing is a workout. Seriously bitter, I don't see that the oak age mellowed this guy out too much. Lots of bite, I can't see doing more than two of these in a day. If bitter hop taste is your thing, go for it.
M - nothing to see here. Not very memorable.
O - picked this up because I am visiting family in the Tampa area and I had heard positive buzz about cigar city and this beer. I'll pass on this one if I see it again.
