12oz bottle, dated 7/30/2013, poured into an unlabeled snifter today, 10/24/2013. Thanks to R.J. for sending this one for me to try.
Pours a watery black body with a helluva thick mocha head that has excellent retention, leaving thick swaths of filmy lacing on the glass and on the surface. At no point does it ever recede completely. Lots and lots of lacing.
Smells very earthy. Some strong notes of roast, dark chocolate and some molasses. But the earthy character of the hops is very strong, accentuated by some floral notes.
Lots of chocolate, molasses, some roast malts. A good bit of floral notes that make this feel like a lighter Storm King in that it is rather bitter, but as the beer warms up, the malt aspect comes out more which is very enjoyable. Complex, sweet and hoppy.
Fantastic mouthfeel. Medium bodied, very creamy and well-carbonated. Aftertaste is predominantly roasty, charred barley accentuated by an earthy bitter hoppiness.
Very interesting porter. I'd argue this is more of a hoppy stout. Reminds me a bit of Storm King in how hoppy it is, but lighter in mouthfeel, just as creamy and hoppy in a different way. But the roasty character is great. Definitely more interesting than Edmund Fitzgerald or Black Butte Porter, but a bit less enjoyable than these two.

Reviewed from notes following a FL vacation.
A: Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Body is dark brown with a half-finger tan head.
S: Pleasant porter nose - chocolate malt and roasted malt.
T: Roasted barley malt, chocolate malt and piney hops at the finish. Touch of coffee but it's not overwhelming.
M: Medium in heft, good carbonation and overall feel.
O: Good stuff. I had a bunch of Cigar City beers while in FL and this was one of my favorites.
