Tocabaga Red pours a deep dark amber, red through and through, with an off white foamy head leaving minimal lacing as it falls.
This red undoubtably has the freshest, hoppiest aroma of on red I've ever encountered backed by a long shot backed up by a caramel.
The flavor is outstanding, fresh hops, as green and resinous and floral as if they were just picked balanced by a creamy caramel bready malt that hangs in the background providing just the right amount of sweetness for the hops. The hops linger and the finish becomes moderately bitter at the back of the palate.
Mouthfeel is smooth, medium and silky with moderate carbonation lending a light creaminess.
With the exception of freshly bottled Jai Alai I believe this is one of Cigar City's best every day beers to date, and it gives fresh Jai Alai a neck and neck run for it's money! Highly recomended!

A nice extra in a recent trade. Poured from 12 oz can into tulip glass.
A: Ruby tinted brown with a generous 3 finger fluffy white head that left some nice chunky lacing.
S: Resiny hops, oranges, caramel.
T: A nice balance of citrus notes with bitterness from the hops. A bit of sweetness creeps in at the last minute.
M: Medium body with a good level of carbonation. Easy drinking brew.
O: This a nicely balanced red ale. Would be a nice one to have 6 or 12 on the boat for a nice day of fishing...
