Pours amber in color with notes of citrus and caramel. Citrus hop bitterness upfront with notes of caramel and an Amish bread sweetness. Citrus hop bitterness returns at the end for a long dry finish.

Amber copper pour with beige head from 12oz can; grassy citrus nose; balanced malt and hop start; slightly resinous finish with grass and orange peel flavors. Medium lite mouthfeel with good carbonation;overall a tasty ale with a slightly bitter ending; nice.

10/7/21 On tap at brewery in Tampa on the way for our stay at Sanibel island. Lovely red color, ever so slight sweet and piney aroma. Very bright and bitey in the mouth, finishes bitter.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is amber, a littler murky and opaque, head is off white/light tan, head presents 1/2 inch thick and then dissipates to thin, whispy top and some lacing on the glass sides.
Smell is citrus pith and rind, resinous pine, light caramel malt.
Taste is citrus pith and rind, resinous pine, caramel, toasted malt, biscuit.
Mouthfeel is low/moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate/strong bitterness.
Overall a very nice strong, malty, bitter red ale - self explanatory and well executed.

Another excellent beer from a brewery that is fast becoming one of my favorites. This is a "big" beer, 7.2 % big hops, big malt. So if ya plan on hammering a 6 pack you might need a designated walker. Pours nice hazy red-amber, lots of tropical type hops in the nose. I checked the brewers website and they use citra and summit. A lot of the new big IPAs are seemingly using these varieties of hops. I like them. I lean old school to the cascade, centennial type but this is an excellent beer. It is one that gets better as it warms to me. I poured one cold and just savored it and as it warmed the hop flavors and bitterness and the malty sweetness seemed to blend nicely. Beautiful stuff, nice head, thick lace. Try it.

Note: Can lists it as a Red IPA at 7.2%. There's a separate BA listing for that, but nobody seems to be posting there...
Dark garnet with pitted linen foam that rims; fresh orange rind with toffee + ganga; strawberry, caramel, red grapefruit, slight honeydew, pine; round, slightly sticky, salty, scratchy bitterness.

Late Sept packaging date - coming up on 4 months, which ain’t great, but still in play for something non-NEIPA.
It indeed feels like it maybe lost a step in how it unfolds: big malts, a dip, then big IBUs. Blueberry mentioned on the label makes me think Mosaic, and I’m not getting much Citra; it’s mostly C hop-esque citrus + pine - is something missing?
Still, the bright red notes put me in the mind of all those juicy reds from the Naughties like Lucky 13, back when there was no such thing as “Red IPA,” just Imperial Ambers.
Behind Red Rocket + G’Knight but ahead of Cascazilla; I’d love to taste it fresher.

This beer from Cigar City is like a second Jai-Alai imo as it's a year round consistent beer that's extremely palatable yet stronger than most, especially with it's ABV.
It has a dark-amber color and is quite hoppy with a citrusy-tone, also prevelant is a high hop count and is quite highly bitter although the flavors do make it quite enjoyable and a notable exception.
Overally, it's a bold tasting red-IPA that feels like a true nod to it's indian name and look, a true red warrior that makes it my go-to local beer for a higher ABV that isn't unbearably hoppy.

On tap at Cigar City. A nice twist on the IPA. It's just what the name suggests: malty on the front end and hoppy bite on the back end. I should have this in my frig.
