Enjoyed this local brew being down in Florida for a winter get-away. Shares a common characteristic with Jai Alai, as all Cigar City beers do, which I like. May just be my favorite Red Ale. Jai Alai and some of the other Cigar's are very abundant here. I didn't know about this and wasn't looking for it. It took a while to stumble upon it. When, I finally did, it was at a large gas station, that is 70% dedicated to craft beer. Times are a-changin'.

12oz can dated this month

A: reddish hue so it's not just a clever name, not much head

S: very Carmel toffee maybe a faint hint of hops and bread

T: very sweet malts with lots of caramel and toffee maybe a slight bit of burnt roast and then I think floral hops but very light

M: mediumish this is a smooth beer a little softer on the carbonation

O: This beer is pretty damn good I could see drinking this one after the other without much difficulty. it's just a nice sweet malty beer that is very smooth.

Very impressive red, didn't expect it to taste as good as it did.

12 ounce can. Great pour--dark red with a large, rocky white head.

Smells of sharp hops and caramel barley. Pretty straightforward hoppy red.

Tastes... as it smells, but excellently balanced, and with a wonderful yeast profile. Caramel malt, sharp hops, chewy yeast. Way sessionable, especially considering its ABV.

Well done, CC. This a hoppier red ale, not especially typical of the style, though perhaps my favorite of the Reds I've had. Good balance with a bit of malty sweetness as well. I've seen a few people taste it for the first time and open their eyes wide with a "wow."

Poured from a can into a tulip

A. Pours a dark amber color with a two finger khaki head. Reminds me of being warm in autumn.

S. Nice malt character with some pine and a slight amount of citrus.

T. Really nice. It has a biscuit major and brown sugar sweetness with a touch of autumn fruit like pear. Nice amount of bitterness for a red ale with nice piney aftertaste. Hitting some nice notes and is layered with flavor.

M. A medium bodied ale with medium carbonation. Wrote refreshing.

O. I was surprised by this. It doesn't strike me as a typical English red ale. It's quite layered with some complexity and nice carbonation. Has done fruit elements and a decent bitterness that play very well with the major sweetnees. Was quite satisfied and would defiantly drink again. Versitile with good food pairing ranging from apple pie to a nice pot roast. Liking this beer.

A red ale? More like a great pale ale that happens to have a reddish color.

Not usually a huge red fan, but this has to be one of my tops if not the top Red. I am impressed so far by Cigar City Brewing and look forward to having their other beers.

Darkish amber color, with a great dirty head to it that foams up extra after the end of the pour and stays with the beer throughout drinking it.

The smell is good, but it's not something that really jumps out and says drink me. It's faint, but intriguing. You smell the hops, the citrus, and you can tell you are in for a full beer. (7.2 abv)

Taste is great, starts off with a smooth woody/wheat flavor to me, then transitions into a clean bitterness, then it gets a citrus slightly sweet flavor, finishing with a long dry finish that stays with you and makes you want to drink more.

Enjoy. I know I'll be having more.
