This is disappointing because it's the first bad beer I've ever had from Cigar City, the first one that's less than really good. From the very first sip it tasted like a cheap, generic macro that somebody had spilled a little bit of saison in. I checked the ABV thinking maybe it was an attempt at a session beer but not really: 5%. The other people at my table felt the same. We didn't want to finish them and waste stomach space.

Nice saison.... golden glowing body. Lots of fast rising bubbles but low head retention. Nose had a little saison yeast aroma. Taste was more noticeable. Very solid saison flavor, bigger body as expected than typical style. Driking this on tap at speckled hen and pairing it up with some seared scallops.

From 06/22/12 notes. Had on tap at the Blind Tiger in NYC. Served in a pint glass.
a - Pours a hazy golden yellow color with moderate carbonation evident and one inch of bright white head.
s - Smells of bananas, spices, cloves, pepper, yeast, bready malts, light citrus hops. Very nice nose.
t - Tastes of pepper, spices, bananas, yeast, citrus hops, yeast. More pepper than the nose and less hops; a step down for me.
m - Medium body and moderate to high carbonation. Pretty easy to drink.
o - Overall a pretty nice beer, though the taste was a little lacking and had too much pepper for me. I was hoping for more hops overall after seeing the description, but it still has a nice nose and is very easy to drink. Good for a summer day, would have it again.
