Another Home Run for the boys at CCB. This Saison was brewed with kelp and seaweed. The yeast came from St. Somewhere.

The beer pours a bright yellow with a white head that rapidly disappeared. IT did have a slight haze to it.

The smell was good with some banana ester, earthy spice with some of the sour belgian yeast. I think I detected alittle bubble gum too. It smelled like double bubble.

The highlight is the flavor. This beer is super clean and crisp. Very refreshing. the flavor was well balanced with sour and some sweetness with the bubble gum flavor. some of the fruit esters as well.

Tasting room only. Get there before it runs out. I told some people there that I like this better that the Guava Grove and most agreed with me.

A - It pours a hazy straw-yellow hue, replete with sudsy white head. Looks well-balanced between rustic Saison authenticity and palatable execution.

S - Nice pear and plum notes fuse with some requisite Saison sweatiness. Nice.

T - Delicately nuanced for a CCB brew, without a doubt. The notion of a Sake-influenced brew is in conveyance here, though I'm not sure if it is at least partially placebo. Still, nice brew.

M - Feels good man.

D - CCB is becoming a two-headed monster; one side (production) makes the robust monster brew, the other side (pilot/taproom) makes delicately nuanced works of finesse. Glad I live close by.

I recently had a snifter of this at the Vote Kelly Campaign Party and thoroughly enjoyed it.

A - Pours a cloudy, yellow with a slight head that rapidly dissipated. Not much lacing.

S - earthy spiciness and the presence of some banana and citrus notes.

T - Very crisp and refreshing. There is an addition of toasted Nori (seaweed) and Chinese 5 Spice that make this a very interesting saison. Good balance of sourness and sweetness.

M - Very effervescent up front which quickly fades and goes down smoothly. Nicely carbonated.

D - At 7% this went down almost too easy.

Served in the Cigar City Tasting room only. Get it while it lasts.

Arrives a cloudy, rich, slightly subdued yellow with a ring of head. Not expecting much lace. (Didn't get it either. )
Smell is malty with banana and brown sugar and a light touch of citrus.
Taste is lemon touched malt with banana and brown sugar. Light spice notes present as well.
Fairly smooth with a sharp effervescence up front. Tartness fades to a smooth fairly full bodied, banana/malt aftertaste. A really easily quaffed brew which, at 7%, could get you in trouble.
