Mikkeller / Cigar City collaboration poured from a 750mL bottle shared among myself and two friends.
Poured absolutely black with a dark, chocolatey brown foamy head. Simply by looking at how the liquid behaves in the glass, one can tell how heavy and oily this is. Looks terrific!
Smell is slightly smoked oatmeal raisin cookie dough. Huge chocolate and spice with a touch of woody smoke.
Flavour is an absolute symphony of delicious madness! Everything present in the nose is present in the mouth along with rum soaked raisins and various other cooked dark fruits. Huge chocolate, sweet malts, spices, and a touch of smoke. Great depth and very complex with the 10%abv very well hidden.
Mouthfeel is smooth and silky. Body is very heavy and oily in the mouth, but pillowy and velvety smooth at the same time. "Well crafted" doesn't quite capture it on this one...simply *stunning*!

Hunahpu Day 2013 pour #4. Listed as 2011 vintage. Makes sense. Pours black with tan head. Roasty, hoppy chocolate smell, heavy on the roasted grain. Hmmm. Sour roasted grain taste, very sweet, too. There is some bit of chocolate, but it is mostly this big roasty flavor that does not jibe with the sourness. Heavy mouthfeel as with other stouts, but cut through a bit by the sourness. Not sure I am into this one. The flavors don't seem to meld well. Thick mouthfeel with low to medium carbonation. I wonder if this keg they were pouring was contaminated.

750 mL bottle poured into a wine glass.
Appearance - Viscous black body. No head while it pours, but a mocha head wells up at the end. Glass staining, like other CCB stouts.
Smell - Ouch, metallic and acidic. This smells way past its prime. Lots of dark fruits and raisins, but it's got a sharp acidic character. Dark chocolate and very dark roasted malts.
Taste - Equally harsh. Intense tang and metallic flavors. Raisins still strong. Dark chocolate, coffee, and very dark burnt malts. Acrid finish.
Mouthfeel - Thick. Sharp acidity. Medium low carbonation.
Overall - Wish I'd rated it long ago. But it serves to know that this is no longer any good.
