On-tap from a 2.5-gallon mini-keg - thanks to CCB and the Brick Store for sharing.
Pours black with a one-finger dark tan head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving decent lacing.
Smells of smooth roasted malts with a hint of nuttiness. Also present are large amounts of semi-sweet chocolate, light vanilla, and mild amounts of dark fruits.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Lightly roasted malt flavors kick things off and are joined quickly by vanilla, oak, and semi-sweet chocolate flavors. Midway through the sip slight boozy dark fruit flavors come into play. The fruit flavors fade out near the end of the sip and slight lactose flavors smooth things out before allowing the vanilla, roasted malt, and chocolate to carry through to a moderately bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a nice thickness with grainy carbonation.
Drinkability is great. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.
Overall I tried this back-to-back-to-back with Rare and DB Zhukov and it may be my favorite of the bunch - a very well balanced beer that hides the alcohol well and is worth a shot if you see it around.
