This is one of the most tart beers I've ever had. Very unique style and taste. Very solid Cigar City beer. Not sure I could drink more than 1 bottle of it at a time due to the tartness.

Overall a great one. Would happily enjoy anytime.

An honor and a privilege to tick this beer at the founders event. Stink of sour apple sweet tarts as rush filled the air with tom sawyer (heaven for me? Maybe?) Flavor is twice as bold as anything I have tried. Taste matches the nose. Picture your favorite sour apple candy and put it in a beer. Rich and full bodied as expected, if anything maybe too sour?

This review has been transcribed from notes taken at the 2011 Hunahpu release.

A: Great amber color, incredibly hazy, and accented by heavy lacing.

S: Bouquet is that of supreme funkiness, and balanced by a gentle note of ripe berries.

T: Very dry, puckering sourness, and delicious flavors of horse-blanket, lactic/malic acid, and a touch of berries. Very well balanced!

M: Light body, effervescent, and clean on the finish.

D: The best CCB sour of the day, and that is saying something given the incredible turnout of funky brews today. highly recommended if it is ever brewed again.

A: The beer is cloudy dark yellow in color and poured with a thin off white head that completely faded away.
S: There are light aromas of sourness in the nose.
T: The taste is filled with flavors of oak and sourness and also has notes of raspberries and vinegar. The taste becomes slightly more complex as the beer warms up.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer has a good balance between the sourness and other flavors, making it not that difficult to drink.

On tap at Rattle N Hum for the great Beers Gone Wild event..
Orange pour with some nice lacing, smells sweet and with raspberry and a little vinegar. The flavor itself is strong with aceto, but not so intense as to make the beer undrinkable. Unique, for sure, not quite nail polish remover, but in a reasonable amount. A bit of wood involved. Not amazing, but not too shabby either. Needs some work on the control of the bacteria..

Draft at Cigar City during the 2011 Hunahpu's release. Leading up to this event this was one of my most anticipated beers that was to be on tap. Throughout the night everyone said that they hadn't seen it and wondered if it wasn't going on. A little after 9:00 p.m. I walked into the tasting room and saw that it was on. I immediately told everyone I knew so hopefully more people got to try it.

Pours a hazy dark golden orange peel color with a one finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a thick lasting cap. Good retention, slowly fading into a thin ring that leaves spots of lace behind.

Tart funky aroma with a boat load of fresh raspberry as well as some other vinous dark fruit notes. The raspberries are so fresh I can even smell the seeds. Nice and earthy with some barnyard funk balancing out the sweet vinous notes.

Medium bodied with a very dry tart puckering sour flavor that lingers throughout into a long, dry vinegary sweet finish. Great barrel presence with hints of earthy oak complimenting the prominent raspberry/vinous dark fruit flavor. Again, the raspberries are uber fresh and dominate the flavor but there are other dark fruit notes. Strong red wine presence with plenty of grape and dark cherry. Very tart, puckering and sour while being slightly acidic. Kind of harsh at first but the palate quickly adjusts and there's a lingering vinegar finish that leaves me salivating for more. I'm glad that I noticed that this was put on because it was excellent.
