Review from backlog. Thanks to coastiesimon for the share. The brew pours a tannic amber hue, and is capped with a sturdy dollop of ecru froth, leaving lace swaths upon the glass. The nose is a bit herbal, a bit piney and shows a trace of caramel maltiness. It is nice enough, but really quite unspectacular, especially considering the price, and that it is supposed to be a special release. The flavor is similarly unspecial, with its greatest strength lying in the well-buried ABV. This is not to say that it tastes bad, it is just that it is a rather unspecial Imperialized Amber Ale. The feel is pretty good, sorta pillowy and light for a beer of this magnitude. Overall, just above a middling effort for the guys at CCB. I hope 110k#5 will return to the heights achieved by 110k#2, and the formerly disastrous 110k#3, which has become stellar after a year of aging (and a transformation for a DIPA to a killer ABW.)
