This festive lager is our tribute to Duke Wilhelm IV's marriage hundreds of years ago, which inspired the production of the first Oktoberfest. Malty up front with notes of sweet toasted bread and a light floral bitterness. Balanced, traditional and incredibly drinkable.

Growler purchased at Cigar City taproom on 9/10/11.

Poured from a growler into a chalice.

Appearance: Poured a hazy golden/orange caramel with a 1/2 finger off-white head. Nice lacing.

Smell: Sweet lager aroma with a touch of fruitiness and spices.

Taste: Grassy notes up front followed by sweet malt and a touch of fruit in the middle before a bitter hoppy finish. Nice bittersweet aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a decent amount of carbonation.

Drinkability: Excellent drinkability. You could knock back several of these without any trouble. Goes down very smooth.

Overall: Very good beer overall. Definitely worth a shot. CCB rarely disappoints.

12 oz. can poured into a Teku. That's right. A lager into a Teku.

Appearance - Clear deep amber body. Nice off-white head and a medium collar with a few wisps on the surface.

Smell - Bready and caramel malt. Very floral, too. Smells sweet.

Taste - Very bready up front. A bit of caramel sweetness in the middle. It gets amplified by that floral and kinda fruity flavor in the back end. Makes it seem sweeter.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Very drinkable. Well carbonated.

Overall - I don't like that floral and fruity back end. Tastes great up front, but that part doesn't seem to work with the rest of the beer.

nice light orange amber with a good looking two inch plus head on the top. Amble carbonation was kept alive throughout which really gave it great retention and helped to keep the lively look of it going.

earthen malted grans. Lots of cereal and spice with almost what smelled like a touch of pumpkin. I dont know if it was really strong enough to be a major competitor in the overall scheme of things light and refreshing. Naturally the biggest player here would be roasted malts and yeast. Nice little floral taste in the finish, which was also quite dry, I have to say a lot drier then I thought it would be fore sure. A nice drinker that went really well with dinner.

Pours a reddish amber into my Stone IPA shaker pint. Smell is sweet bready malts and a bit of orange zest. The smell is pretty faint. Taste follows the nose. There's a sort of fruity sweetness in there too and some caramel. A very clean tasting beer. Mouthfeel is crisp and smooth. Carbonation is a bit low but completely fine. Just a really easy drinking beer. Tons of flavor and just a bit of bitterness.
