Bottle from EBF.
Clear golden color with a hint of a haze and straw, nice fizzy head, touch of a rosy-orange hue.
Nose has a a bit of tropical fruit, maybe grapefruit but hard to really tell, with a light saw dust like wood, and again the same basic saison aromas as the lemon wood.
Taste is a bit creamy as well, more of the light saison farmhouse malt flavors and yeast, bit bready malt saison flavors, even less of the spices as the lemon wood, but there is a definite light tropical fruit flavor that starts to develop into a grapefruit guava like flavor, and that comes with a light funky yeasty flavor that the farmhouse is starting to get big. This one also brings a light wooden shelf like sawdust flavor. A hint of booze on the finish, and fairly dry.
Mouth is med bodied, good carb.
Overall pretty good, a bit better than the lemon wood as the wood and fruit come a bit more forward, as well as the farmhouse funky yeast I think.

Pours a cloudy light orange with one finger thick fizzy white foam. Better head retention than the other two versions though, a thin layer sticks around and splotches of fine lace left down the glass. This bottle was a slight foamer btw. Smell: pale malt sweetness, nectarine and a little white grape, lemon/grapefruit rind, peppery and grassy notes. Taste: brief soft pear into tangerine, candied citrus rind, spicy blast. Drying finish with a sweetened ginger note. Big flavors here. Medium bodied and creamy with ample carbonation. Bottled Dec 8 2011. Excellent. For me this is the version to stock up on.

My bottle was in its 40's when I opened it and as well exploded, so have a glass ready or start chuggin.
A- A great foggy old gold color with a two finger head(after you let the bottle settle).
S- The smell is awesome. I mean it was aged in grapefruit wood. Its like walking into your moms house after she got done cleaning with pine-sol.
T- Citrus met a little spice then they met some nice earthy tones and they listened to some jazz all night.
M- Well its a saison and it exploded so the carbonation is present but still smooth due to the overwhelming taste.
Its like no other saison I have ever tasted. When your nose smells it right before you drink it you think you are going to get a dry carbonated saison. Then you get a sweet velvety citrus explosion of awsomeness in your mouth. Would have gave this a perfect but it explodes when you open it, so have it almost freezing when you open it, then wait 30 minutes because at $15 a bottle you lose like 4 of it when opening. Still going to the other TWAM tomorrow to see if they have it.

Opened it up at about 55 F and it exploded everywhere. Didn't even get the cap off and it lost half a glass. Maybe my fault for opening warm.
A: beautiful saison with a large off-white head on an orange/gold body. The head stays for the glass since the carbonation is just rushing up from the bottom.
S: yeasty esters, earthiness, and citrus are the biggest smells. Smells a bit dry or bitter as well.
T: nice spicy and earthy taste, with less emphasis on the citrus. Some fruity flavor comes through. Amazingly, the 9% alcohol isn't detected until it's sitting in my stomach.
M: high carbonation - probably the highest I've ever seen outside of my homebrew mistakes. Body is light for a beer of this gravity, but still mediumish.
O: I'm no saison expert, but this is up there with the best I've had. Excellent beer. Too bad it's $16.

Arrives in a snifter with a bright golden orange color with a small, off-white head. Retention is short with just a thin ring after a minute or so.
Smell is the weakest area of this brew. If you search you pick up some malty sweetness and some citrus notes with very little else coming to the party.
Taste is where it is at. Malt, citrus, hints of coriander and ginger, a nice sweetness with no appreciable hop presence. Alcohol is noticeable but not overpowering.
Smooth, smooth, smooth with a light effervescence to prevent it from becoming cloying on the palate. Full-bodied with some warming which I found nice on 73 degree Florida December day. It stood up well to a spicy shawarma.
Per the Tasting Room staff, this version is aged on grapefruit wood with coriander, ginger and orange peel. Now to try the others. The other three versions are aged on cedar, lemon wood and orange wood.
