Poured from 16oz tall can into a weizen glass. This is the 2013 brew.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a moderate haze and effervescence. Head is a thick finger of pillowy ivory foam. I think it looks quite good.

Smell: wheaty malt aroma with grassy, slightly funky hops which are not as tropical as I wanted them to be. There's also a slightly off-putting phenolic character that, to me, just doesn't belong here.

Taste: better than the aroma, with a definite tropical feel to it. Hops feel fruity and bitterness is quite smooth. The sweetness, though, is a little bit cloying; a bit too much with the tropical fruitiness. Not bad, but not super balanced.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a great carbonation and a nice, satisfying creaminess. Good stuff.

Overall: this beer is kind of all over the place for me. I love the idea of a fruity-hopped wheat beer, but the execution here is a bit lacking. Still totally quaffable, but I hope later iterations of this recipe turn out a little more balanced.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 16 oz. can into an Upland pint glass.

A: Pours a hazy orange-gold color with 1.5 fingers of white head. Visible carbonation on the low side.

S: Wheat predominates, although the impression is only a bit grainy. Faint citrus as well, but overall not a ton in the aroma.

T: Wheat and cracker malt, light orange citrus or perhaps orange zest, very light spiciness. Hop bitterness is in balance, not a punch-in-the-mouth profile. A clean finish with a bit of sweet grain flavors and a very slight hop bitter. The pilsner malt character of the beer grows some as it warms.

M: Medium body, essentially no alcohol presence. Good carbonation sensation.

O: This wasn't terribly exciting, but isn't flawed and it's well-made to be an easy drink during a hot concert.
