Draft at Cigar City during Hunahpu Day 2012.

Pours a dark purplish-plum color and completely opaque with a two finger off-white head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic streaks of lacing left behind. Doesn't look like a traditional at all.

The aroma is more in line with the style with hints of zesty spice, bready yeast, subtle light and citrus fruit notes and of course, blueberry. Based on the appearance, I was expecting this beer to smell like a jolly rancher but it doesn't smell artificial. The blueberry presence is there with hints of sweetness but it doesn't overpower the other notes. Some clove, coriander, pepper along with lemon peel and bread.

On the lighter end of medium bodied with a bit more of a sweet blueberry presence than the nose suggests. Still, it's not overly sweet or artificial tasting with characteristics of the style shining through. Some peppery spice of front with coriander and peopled followed by bready yeast, banana, and citrus peel. The blueberries come in during the finish with a sweet, vinous character that compliments the other flavors. This was an interesting idea that could have gone horribly wrong but they pulled it off. Not great but drinkable and refreshing.
