A- hazy and orange with a two finger white fluffy head
S- subtle citrus hops, orange, tangerine, coriander
T- more of the same from the nose tangerine and citrus hops flavors, sweet caramel malts, you get faint wood characteristics towards the finish.
M- pretty sticky and sweet for an ipa with a slight bitterness on the finish, resinous.
O- not as exciting as I expected after reading the label. I would have like a more pronounced "maple" flavor but a descent beer for a good cause.

Deep amber and orange color, with good white head that is fairly uniform in bubble size. Great lacing on the sides of the tulip glass. Nose is well balanced between sweet citrusy hops and tangy/earthy hops. Taste is much like any other decent IPA but a touch sweeter. I'm not picking up on any of the spice notes. Not quite what I was expecting. For the price of $7, definitely worth the 750mL.

Bottle (2012)

Thanks for opening this with me, DarthKostrizer!

Hazed dark orange with a small off-white head that leaves dots of lacing down the glass.

Initially, the aroma was quite nice, with tropical fruit and citrus notes, along with a bit of sweet cracker malt. Once it warmed a bit, a strange, mild sulfur aroma emerged.

The flavor is similar to the aroma, with mild citrus and tropical fruit flavors leading the way, along with cracker malt and just the hint of maple, though that could even be my imagination.

Medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation.

Good enough, though another gimmick from Cigar City.

750 mL bottle poured into a straight sided glass. Bottled 5/17/2012. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Pours a bright orange with a hazy body. Good head. Distinct bubbles.

Smell - Dull aroma. Citrus hops, maybe some wood? I'm probably imagining that. Piney.

Taste - Definitely hoppier, but not by much. Balance of pine and citrus. Light malt presence, but balanced. Bitter immediately, but it doesn't build.

Mouthfeel - Well carbonated and light bodied. Easy drinking.

Overall - Kinda dull, really. Need more aromatic hops. This is the malt content I'd like in an IPA, but more hops.

A- hazy to dark orange

S- some malt and pine

T- more malt than comes through on Jai Alai. while it does have some citrus to it I feel the pine/woodsy characteristic is what comes through most on this IPA

M- solid mouthfeel similar to a Jai Alai

O- a good overall IPA that would be better if I didn't have to compare it to Jai Alai in my mind. Since CCB produces this for such a great reason i am always willing to buy plenty of the bottles

Despite being fresh a multitude of floaters courses through a coppery cloudy body. The head was a bit dull but had a stiff bubbly build.

The nos was filled with pithy grapefruit, citrus tangerines, maple syrup, lemon sweetness, and a stable caramel malt.

The flavor is strong on maple with a touch of vanilla, which adds a creaminess. There's a strong citrus finish that reminded me of Orange rinds, with an oiliness.

The feel is thick but the orangey oily taste translates to feel. Otherwise the astringency is low and it's fairly easy to drink.

This has very little overriding IPA qualities but it's so different and interesting that one can easily overlook it and enjoy.
