Appearance: Poured with two and a half fingers of head that laced like crazy and had some decent retention. The body is a cloudy blonde with mild orange notes.

Smell: Pine and floral hops are upfront with a slight background of biscuit malt and grapefruit in the background. This is nearly IPA level of hopping going on here. I'm going to be generous as it is pleasent, but it comes across as a bad omen.

Taste: ...and that Bad omen has come to fruition. Grapefruit upfront and centre that turns to pine hops, then more lemon hops then flowery hops. Point is, it's hopped like crazy to a level I would expect from an IPA, not a Pale ale. Even their Jai Alai IPA doesn't come across as this hoppy.

Mouthfeel: Oily, as expected from something so hoppy. The transistioning is all over the place on this one. The only saving graces are the carbonation which while it helps out the entire beer, isn't helping my case and the aftertaste of mild grapefruit.

Drinkability: It's medium bodied, but not very refreshing. It's rought, too hoppy and hard to drink. It's just too all over the place and blatantly unbalanced for my liking.

Final Thoughts: This is a hopped up IPA that's pretending it is a regular pale ale. It's like Hopitcal Illusion gone horribly wrong. I probably would have been a bit more charitable to this one if it was labelled an IPA, but not largely so. It is a beer that hits the wrong buttons for me.

A:piss Yellow to pale orange with a white rocky head.

S: strong pine hops, caramel malt, slight lemon, its just another weak IPA calling itself a PA, typical.

T: pine, caramel malt is lemony, little spicy, pine bitter is very strong at first anyway.

M/F: low carbonation, dry almost watery finish, and a lemon pith finished flavor.

O: too hoppy for the style, even though its not dales level its close. unbalanced....

Canned 10-20-14 (nice pirate)

Poor's out hazy golden orange with a white rocky head. The aroma is strong pine, some orange, a little sweet caramel malt, slight grass, a little dankness and orange pungent in the end. Taste is strong orange, then pine, sweet caramel, little spicy, medium bitterness, dry almost watery finish, and a lemon pith finished flavor. Real easy drinker and highly recommended for a pale ale with a slightly different taste then others I have had. For some reason it is a hard beer to put down and it goes down really easy.

Thanks to irishrogue for this can, a beer that though unreviewed, I drank plenty of on our Carnival Cruise in December…as one of the only palatable alternative to whiskey sours. 12 oz. can with a Manson look-alike pirate on the label, dated 1/21/15.

The pour is light apricot with plenty of carbonation to tickle the nose. Speaking of nose, it smells bright, lightly fruity, light citrus, sweet. Like a summer wind, except with a higher ABV.

All hail the Florida Invasion! Pale malts give way quickly to a spattering of hoppy flavors. Gentle orange, moderate bitterness, lemon, honey, with a quick inertia of earthiness. There’s a strong peppery spiciness that dominates the mid-palate: if I didn’t know better, I’d say there was rye in here someplace. Ends with a bit of grainy black-and-white TV right at the end. So easy to pound, with a light, tropical mouthfeel.

This doesn’t rival isn’t quite People are People or Hungry Like the Wolf, but what invasion ever reaches that level? This is more like Save a Prayer, and hey, who wouldn’t want that? A very nice pale ale.

Cloudy orange body with some hints of amber. Huge, fluffy off-white head sits on top. Really abnormally large head on a normal pour. Aroma is very tropical, lots of pineapple, mango and some toasted malt aromas. Flavor is much of the same, tropical fruity hop flavors with a solid toasty malt backbone. Carbonation is a bit off, as noticed by the huge head. Somewhat fizzy and just slightly off. Doesn't take much away from the overall impression, but is a little strange.
