This one given to me by LiquidDegenerate...thanks Jim!

Poured into CC snifter

Pour: I'd call it almost black. I see some lighter dark brown tones along the edges creating the almost black. There was no head and carbonation is not noticed. A very still typical looking beer of the style.

Smell: Oh yeah!! I love the nose on these beers. I get a huge, huge cognac/brandy soaked dark fruit with fig, dates, prunes, and raisins. A wonderful brown sugar type sweetness come through along with caramel. This is an awesome smelling beer!

Taste: Oh yeah again!! The taste follows the nose almost to perfection. The raisins, figs, dates, prunes seem as though they were soaked in the cognac/brandy barrels forever. Vanilla, brown sugar, molasses, dark tart cherries, and a last minute touch of coffee.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full and sticky sweetness all over the palate. Smooth and creamy with a lack of carbonation.

Overall: This is one of my personal favorite styles along with old ales because they blur the line with english style barleywines and I find both to be phenomenally enjoyable styles. This beer hits on all aspects of what it should be and find it near perfection.

Capricho Oscuro Batch 5 is basically a brandy party in my mouth. The brandy and wood flavors work phenomenally with the extremely sweet toffee, dark fruit, and malt flavors of the Warmer Winter Winter Warmer that composes most of this blend. The other stouts seem to primarily add a malt complexity that is absent from WWWW. The barrels really elevate the whole deal, providing a tempering, slightly boozy presence. Very tasty barrel aged beer.

12oz. bottle poured into a Duvel tulip. Thanks to dachshunddude86 for this treat.

Appearance: Dark brown with little to no head that instantly remains only as a ring.

Smell: Port wine like over dark fruit, with a finishing whiff of alcohol.

Taste: So much rich flavor, again vinous over caramel malts with alcoholic warmth. Dark fruit in abundance plum, raisin, and fig, all layered on top of each other. CCB creates a beer that manages to be complex, unique, and delicious. Like caramel wrapped raisins aged in a port barrel. The warmth makes the alcohol noticeable but not harshly so.

Mouthfeel: Holding on to smooth, the palate is cleansed by the alcohol.

Overall: Unique to say the least, but very, very, tasty. Glad to have enjoyed this one.

Got this one from urwithdave a while back. Cheers man!

From a bottle into a snifter

APPEARANCE: A dark brown pour yields a 1 finger, looser looking, fizzy, light tan head with lousy retention. Quite noisy and fizzes down to a half wisp and ring. Black body with no real carbonation evident. A slight wisp remains but no real lacing down the glass. Looks fine, but this is one obnoxious, lazy head.

SMELL: Lots of caramel with plenty of bourbon and alcohol on the nose. Some milk chocolate and vanilla, but mostly cherry and lots of alcohol.

TASTE: Bourbon and boozy start to this one with vanilla, milk chocolate and booze soaked cherries at the swallow. Wood, bourbon, cherries and chocolate linger in the bold and acohol laced aftertaste. A touch too boozy perhaps, but still quite complex and interesting.

PALATE: Thinner, lighter body and medium levels of carbonation. Somewhat fizzy and rough on the palate, goes down with a bit of a burn after the swallow and finishes sticky. Some heat lingers.

OVERALL: There's no ABV listed here, but I can imagine it's a big one. Very boozy with a lousy look and a thinner, harsh feel make this one more of a chore than an enjoyable drink. Felt like I was more going through the motions on this one. If they could tone down the ABV and keep the complex taste profile, they'd have a really good one here. I'm a big CCB fan, but this one didn't really do it for me. Thanks again for the box urwithdave. Great box of FL happy juice.
