Rich dark flavor for style.
Sweet up front but a touch of bitterness and coffee in the end.

Sample #7 at the brewpub 1/29/14

This brown is a dark one, still within the norm but nearly as dark and heavy as some bigger stouts out there. A creamy brown head rises to one full finger and leaves lots of lace clinging and spreading dense webbing as it goes.
This is a nice brown ale with deep character. It has a good, soft, even roast with a toasty undertone to it with complements of nut and creamy sweetness. Caramel is drawn from the malts and a nice chocolaty note eases into the smooth finish. This is one of those browns in which the natural nutty flavor is most present, and it's delicious.
This beer is so smooth, coating the tongue without being heavy or sticky. The body, as it should, rests in medium range and it's very well textured. It's just crisp enough, with a low carbonation and a real focus on the smoothness.

Draft, 4 oz sampler glass

Very creamy, the lactose sweetness is evident. Nutty, slightly roasty flavors are prominent.

June 2013. Growler poured into a glass. Minimal, barely there aroma and dark pour with a big head. Deep but balanced taste leads to a smooth, crisp mouthfeel at the finish. Another easy drinking beer from Cigar City Brewpub but lacking in complexity.

On tap at the brewpub. Murky light brown with small off white head. Nutty aroma with chocolate, soy sauce and an uncertain spice note. Flavor is a nutty vanilla almond, light body, medium carbonation. Sweet molasses lingers but mostly pretty light. Some fig coming in as I go. Not what I was expecting and on the watered down side. Not bad, on the fruity side given the ingredients. Ok.

Got the growler filled at the new brewpub on 7/12/14. Apparently brewed more than once.

Pours a rich, dark brown with a decent amount of red within. A good sized head develops from a rather aggressive pour. Great lace left behind as it settles to a solid, thick film.
Smell is toasted malt, vanilla, coffee, toffee. Good balance.
Taste is toasted, almost burnt, malts, coffee, vanilla, toffee, a decent amount of alcohol shows up as it warms.
Smooth and warming, with a medium body and light effervescence. Delicious and very drinkable. I think I'll go refill my glass.
