Notes/Commercial Description:
Forgotten Island is aged in Appleton rum barrels, originating from Jamaica. This distillery makes the oldest barrel-aged rum in the world. The barrel lends notes of vanilla, molasses, orange peel, cocoa, brown sugar, nutmeg, hazelnut, apricot and peach. This plethora of flavors and aromas from the rum barrels intermingles with banana, clove, cinnamon, fig, plum and brown sugar aromatics and flavors from the quadrupel, creating a crescendo of elegance in a long flavorful finale.

A - Pours a dark brown with a red tint. A few large tan bubbles form and move to the edge.

S - Lots of run, some sweet dark fruits, figs.

T - Super sweet - run soaked raisins and toffee.

D - Low carbonation with a heavier body.

O - Smells nice, but super, super sweet.

For some reason I had high hopes for this one.

Smells is strong rum, boozy.
Taste starts way too sweet and then the rum kicks in with some alcohol warmth on way down.
The mouthfeel is actually pretty good, but the rum and the sweetness are harsh and separated.
Sort of reminds me of a rum & coke cocktai, which I'm not really a fan of...

Overall, I hate this beer, partially because it borders on being good, but I cannot stand the sweetness. This taste like a stong rum & coke with added syrup. Toning down sweetness by 3x and the rum 2x would actually lead to a pretty good beer.

Couldn't finish the bottle between 2 people. I will say the flavors were really bright and vibrant, so I can see how some people might like this.
