11.2oz bottle poured into a snifter.

(A)- Pours a pitch black color. Produced an enormous fluffy tan head that stuck around for quite awhile. Plenty of clumpy lacing too.

(S)- An obvious deep roasted chocolatey coffee aroma that immediately reminds me of espresso. A cafe mocha anybody?

(T)- Not quite as rich as the smell led me to believe, but still some good roasted cocoa and coffee in there. A subtle vanilla sweetness at the end as it warmed.

(M)- The carbonation level is way too high for a stout; it really kills and masks some of the excellent espresso flavors in the body.

(O)- Aside from the carbonation level, this is a really excellent stout with espresso.

Trois Dames 'Espresso Stout' @ 7.2% , served from a 330 ml bottle purchased for $5

A-pour is a dark cola brown from the bottle to near black in the glass with a small tan head leaving a large spotty lace along the pint glass

S-mild espresso

T-smooth tasting , lingering bittersweet finish

MF-medium carbonation , medium to full bodied , dryness lingers on the palate

Ov-good tasting beer , pricey for small bottle , glad I tried it

Poured from bottle into crooked stave tulip. Purchased at World of Beer in Rochester, NY. The bottle label on this BA page looks way cooler than the plain label on this bottle...
Pours a deep black color with a bit of white lacing...
great coffee and sweet lacto aromas mixed with a hint of slight hint of funk...ever so slight, but something earthy or spicy or funky.
Very crisp sweet lacto stout flavor with a hint of woddy or earthiness but remains very sweet.
Super easy drinker...a bit bitter or tart but not overly anything..just all around balanced and way more personallity than most sweet stouts. Really nice brew...just wish it was more available and a bit less pricy.

330ml bottle, 7.2% ABV, and no longer named after the Swiss mountain coffee brand, but it does indeed still contain it.

This beer pours a hazy, very dark reddish cola hue, with three fingers of fizzy, foamy, and puffy beige head, which leaves some nicely thorough haunted forest branch lace around the glass as it steadily recedes.

It smells of earthy, bitter espresso coffee grounds, medium-sweet cocoa, slightly acidic cafe au lait, and a touch of leafy hops. The taste is rich, creamy milk chocolate, cut with a tart espresso edge - quite earthy, and somewhat woody - some mild sour black fruit, a wee bit of wet ash, and stunned leafy hops.

The bubbles are on the low side of the median, the body likewise under-performing where percentiles might be concerned - a thin medium-light weight at best, and actually somewhat smooth, once the espresso bitterness fades, at least. It finishes just off-dry, the coffee/chocolate morphing into a crackery tea-accompaniment sort of thing.

A decent enough strong coffee flavoured stout, however, so much so that the milky goodness of the style really has to struggle to be seen and heard (ok, tasted). It could also use a step up in weight class, as my perception of it becomes more and more like real cold coffee as it fades from memory.

A decent dark brown body with a thin, tan head. Your nose fills with dark, bitter chocolate, coffee grounds, and lightly burnt toast. Taste is overpowering sour with some bitterness fighting to be noticed. Weak, watery mouthfeel.

Wow, I sure wasn't expecting this off-taste. I probably should have rated it 1 or less for taste, but I think the other scores and this write-up pretty well sum up my experience.

11.2 oz. just barely more black than a brown cola pour. Whispy layer of light tan.

Aroma, a sugary malt and chocolate. Not really picking up any coffee.

Taste, More malt, caramel, light milk chocolate. Nice caramel latte. Really pretty nice.

Mouthfeel is a tad on the thin side. Carbonation seems a tad higher but doesn't really detract. The barely mid body detracts here more. Does drink very easy though.
Nice to try, though not real cheap here in the states.

Dark brown with a dark beige, rocky head that lasts a short while, leaving modest lacing. There is lots of carbonation on the glass and a viscous film with each sip.

The aroma opens with some strong chocolate and licorice then quickly turns to milk chocolate malt. There is also some roasted coffee.

Opens like a milk stout, sweet with roasted malt, quickly followed by a sour note. Otherwise not quite to style, but there is a big plum finish that lingers.

Light body with modest carbonation and some alcohol.

This is a good occasional beer that brings a varied experience to one’s afternoon of relaxation. It also warms well.
