On tap at Da Vinci in Bern, Switzerland. Poured a crystal clear, straw-yellow color with a small, fizzy head of foam. It left minimal lacing. It smelled of corn, grains and caramel malt. Sweet caramel taste with very minimal bitterness.

Had on tap. Pours clear, light yellow in color with half inch head. Taste is grass and grain. Light bodied, slightly bitter with modetate carbonation. Really tasty, sessionable, light lager. Really enjoyable.

From a 500ml bottle .
A decent quality European pale lager. The foaming head has good retention. There are no off notes and no metallic aftertaste. The mouthfeel is rich and nicely rounded. There's a lack of depth and complexity, of course, but this is a pretty reasonable quaffer when served ice cold and certainly better than a Heineken.

Review: Can of Calanda Lager: ABV: 4.8%
The Calanda brewery and its unique beer, from the water of the Grison mountains
On pour we get a lovely clean and clear golden colour, with a massive head that takes a while to settle. When it settles eventually I see a lovely looking beer. The head does die a bit after a while, and there is some decent lacing.
I like the aroma as well, quite strong and full of nice aromas of corn, barely and grains.
Taste wasn’t what I was expecting, a bit of a slow burner. A good feel in the mouth and that initial taste was good. Creamy, stringent sour taste, some citrus.
Bubbly, deep lying taste, hoppy.
All at start and middle, no real aftertaste. Savoury, tasting of corn, grains and sweet malts.
A slow drinking beer, good for a slow session, very tasty. I liked it, a nice and relaxing beer.

A: Nice, golden, clear beer with only moderate head retention and lacing.
S: Nice medium hop aroma.
T: Very nice all malt full bodied beer. Medium hopiness and a nice all grain, 2 row malt backbone.
M: Medium. Proper for a lager.
O: On tap in Zinal, Switzerland I found this to be a clear, clean and flavorful example of a very good pale Euro lager. Very Nice.

I brought a 500ml can of Calanda home from a recent trip to Switzerland. The color was a golden clear with big white head to start then it dissapated. No lacing. The scent was mostly grain and barley. The taste was a lighter beer with mostly barley and malt present. Mouthfeel was lighter in body with big carbonation at the start then it faded. Overall it was ok, drinkable but not something that I would go out a search for.

500ml can acquired in a petrol station in Luxembourg. I don't recall the price. Best before is 05 2012. Served into a Norrebro Bryghus stemware glass that can hold 40cl, in Copenhagen, Denmark. I consumed the drink alone, unpaired with food. Reviewed live.
A: Three finger head is devoid of cream, of lackluster thickness, and retains for about a minute and a half. Colour is a clearly overcarbonated pilsner yellow. Semitransparent. Not appealing in any special sense, but it's beer. I like beer.
Sm: Cream and stale barley. An aroma of mild strength, and not a good one. I have the feeling this will be very generic...
T: ...and what a shocker - it is generic. Very generic. Stale barley and light cream combine with crap quality malt to form the body. The climax features only a mild upsurge of the "flavours" of the barley followed by a stale dying finish. Very boring. Built simply and badly, with no real balance.
Mf: Smooth and wet, like most generic beers in the style. Too thick; a bit lumpy. The mouthfeel of course isn't at all tailored to the body. It's designed for fast consumption, which fortunately allows one to avoid tasting the flavours in any real sense. This may be its best feature.
Dr: It's a garbage can beer from Heineken. Standard ABV, abysmal quality, and probably a low price. The polite term is "student beer". I only give beers an F if they're watery, so on principle I give this a D-.
