Appearance: pale gold, good clarity, spongey layer of white froth, OK head retention

Aroma: delicately fruity, floral, honeyish and perfumey

Flavor: subtle malt sweetness with a faint hint of honey and grapefruit notes, then a raspy bitterness at the back of the tongue; finishes semi-dry with a lingering bitterness

Mouthfeel: light body, very fine carbonation, soft but crisp texture

Other comments: If it didn't say "Honey Ale" on the label, one might not realize there's actually honey in this beer. The honey features more as a back note and a body lightener.

500 mL bottle poured into a glass.

Pours with a thin, mostly white head that sits over a golden/bronze brew.

Smells nice with some malt and a sweetness coming through--perhaps from the honey?

The honey doesn't overpower the taste of this ale in sweetness, but there is a bittersweet aftertaste that was mildly unpleasant.

Would drink again, but not my first choice, unless lager is the only other option.

It seems this beer is exclusively avilable at the Coop suparmarkets, but since other BAs on the other side of the Atlantic have had it, suppose the brewery ships it separately as well? The relatively large "Fairtrade" mark is placed right at the bottom of the beer label, and one simply can't miss it if he/she is not totally foreign about the fairtrade idea. It was actually part of the reason why I bought it... hope the Chilean honey providers could really benefit from this bottle~~ The BB date is 01 AUG 06.

A: slightly hazy, dark golden hue with honey-ish hint of course! the pure white beer head is thick and foamy, with rather good retention, while the carbonation is surprisingly low.
S: overwhelmingly honeyish... not that sweet though, but complexly sour-sweet as you would expect from a honeyish drink/tea; it's mixed well with fruity, refreshingly citrusy/lime hops and rich grainy malts, resulting in a balanced and crisp, sour-sweet nose slightly akin to a grainy Helles!!! Very pleasant indeed.
T&M: sweet-ish grainy upfront, laced with a softly, underlying bittersweet edge of unprocessed honey, ginger or other kinds of root spice, and corn-seeds, bringing on the palate lots of chewy and herbal hoppyness as well as a lingering bittersweet honeyish on top of lightly grainy and malty aftertaste; rather clean finish, leaving a satisfyingly herbal bitter lingering taste. The mouthfeel is solid--refreshingly light on the palate with a moderate texture and very good depth caused by marriage of hops and honey I believe. Going a bit thin at the end of every sip, though.
D: overall, this drink is simply a treat--the best and balanced honey beer amongst those I've tried over here in Britain. As quaffable as tasty. Recommended!

Presentation: 500ml bottle with a fair trade stamp on it. Best before 04 JUN 06. Made with first gold hops from Worcestershire and Fairtrade honey from Chile(23%). Cleared by :Filtration, Isinglass, silicon dioxide, and Polyvinyl-polyprrolidone. What ever happened to Irish Moss?

Appearance: very light yellow color, much like a regular mead. No head really, just big bubbles from the pour.

Smell: Clean maltiness, a light floral honey aroma, and a spicy hoppiness.

Taste: Carbonation, body, and mouthfeel is very light. A honey flavor washes over the palate following huge grainy maltiness. A light bitterness and a grassy finish. A lingering grain flavor resides on the palate for quite a while.

Notes: The hopping is quite nice. Its quite refreshing to drink plenty of on a hot summer's day, but there's just not much flavor here.

Golden yellow beer with a large frothy white head.
Very sweet scent to it. Honeyish in aroma.
Rather thin taste, it is quite sweet with a bitter aftertaste.
A quite thin and watery mouthfeel and manages to be cloying at the end.
This beer was not really my cup of tea, but its OK>
NOTE: this is brewed by Freeminer for the Co-Op chain of stores in the UK.
