250 mL bottle from the LCBO; best before 06/15. I've ignored this beer for years now, but it's showing up in more and more places locally, and when you also consider the fact that I've never tried a strawberry beer before, that it's hotter than shit out tonight, and run-on sentences are completely awesome, that it may mean perhaps tonight is a good occasion to sample this fruit beer of noble stock? Served slightly chilled.

Pours a hazy, pinkish orange colour, generating a meagre half inch of considerably less pinkish head that soon fizzles into the ether. Strands of lacing cling to the glass after a few sips, but as for the head, only a narrow collar remains. Not much to look at, but if you're a strawberry fan then all I can say is that the aroma delivers - it pretty much smells like strawberry pastries, with perhaps a dose of daiquiri thrown in for good measure. I can see it being cloying if you don't like the fruit, but then why would you even buy this in the first place?

Not offensive or even particularly off-putting in terms of flavour, but it's just too god damn sweet. Strawberry candy is prominent throughout - sure, there is a token biscuity malt presence to half-heartedly corroborate the reasonable claim that this is a beer and not the dreaded 'flavoured malt beverage' - but it's much too saccharine to be something I want more than a few sips of. The finish has vibes of strawberry jam, with a pleasant tartness; perhaps the only thing that prevents this from being below-average in the category. Thin-bodied, but at the same time it has a syrupy quality that causes it to cling to the mouth and throat. Normally I'd scoff at a 250 mL bottle of beer as being inadequate, but in this instance it's entirely appropriate.

Final Grade: 3.22, a C+. The label on Früli Strawberry Beer mentions things about being a Belgian white fruit beer, but in my opinion it's all fruit, no white, and hardly beer in the first place. I'll finish this glass easily, and as far as fruit beers go I can't realistically say this is particularly bad - but I can't see myself opting for this again. Worth a try if you have a friend who 'doesn't like beer' and you want to keep something in the fridge for him (or, um, her). In all seriousness... I'd drink this again, but if I'm in the mood for a fruit beer I'd rather have something refreshing, as opposed to cloying. (2,378 characters)

Serving Type: 330 mL Bottle

A- Pours a light pink that's topped by a 1 1/2 finger white head that quickly dissipates. Beautiful colour!

S- Sweet strawberry jam with a nice tart finish. Not able to seek out the coriander mentioned in the brewers description.

T- Same as the aroma. Beautiful taste that could take the place of a quality desert anytime.

M- Light Body and Medium carbonation.

O- If there ever was a perfect desert beer, I would have to say that this is it. Delicious Strawberry Jam flavour and aroma and a light, crisp, refreshing body. (558 characters)

Bottle pours a hazy ruby body with a small light pink head. Some spotty lace is on the goblet.

Aroma of strawberry jam and strawberry jolly ranchers.

Light medium body, medium carbonation and a prevailing natural and artificial strawberry sweetness.

Taste is strawberry jolly ranchers with some strawberry jam. I'm not picking up any yeast, pepper, or coriander notes, maybe a hint of mustiness. Finishes with a strawberry note and leaves a strawberry jam aftertaste.

How many times can you type "strawberry" in a beer review? If you like strawberry jam or jolly ranchers, you might want to try this one, but its more artificial than natural and a bit cloying. (665 characters)

Had on tap at Rose Alley, New Bedford

Appearance: moderate carbonation, 1/2 inch head, fluorescent pinkish-purple in color, cloudy

Smell: strawberry cocktail

Taste: strawberries, passionfruit, some wheat. Kinda like a strawberry cocktail.

Mouthfeel: sweet but not as sweet as I expected, medium carbonation throughout, light body

Drinkability: I dunno, I guess this may be a beer. It tastes more like a strawberry cocktail that I would expect to get on a cruise ship. As an overall beverage, it is not bad. But if you are looking for a strawberry beer, go with Covington’s or Sam Smiths (593 characters)

Been meaning to try this one for ages, finally found it at the LCBO.

It pours an opaque rose colour, leaving just a little bit of head. It looks like a thin strawberry smoothie.

The smell is terrific, like strawberry pulp. Not too much else.

The taste is very sweet, certainly all strawberry, until the finish, which is just a little bit sour like a traditional wit. Mouthfeel is a bit thick, like the end of a milkshake. Carbonation is not very strong.

Despite its merits, I doubt I could drink too many of these. As a dessert beer, definitely. It's just...it's not beer, but it's a well-made fruit beverage to be sure. Worth trying. (639 characters)

Poured in a chilled pint glass...

Appearance - What an interesting pouring beer! Always odd to see a strawberry colour beer and a head that has the sane hue to it. Beers pours with a good amount of head 1.5 inch + and lingers for a bit. Colour is exactly as mentioned, nice strawberry colour. The aroma was noticeable as well.

Smell - Exactly as you would think with this type of beer, very strong strawberry smell. Slight barley smell, but dominated by the origins of the beer.

Taste - This is NOT a beer based tasting, i would consider it more like a daiquiri or fruity taste. Has a solid taste and delivers what it was made for, a strawberry punch.

Mouthfeel - not a lot happens in the mouthfeel. The taste is dominant again, not a lot of carbonation activated.

Drinkability - Given the context of this beer and what it is met for, i would drink it again. This is a good after dinner beer, but not something u can sit around and drink for hours on end. (960 characters)

A 250ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2012.

Poured into a Stella chalice. A very hazy pink colour with a pale reddish head of foam. No light passes through the glass and it is impossible to gauge carbonation. Some lumps of yeast collect at the bottom, and considerable residue remains in the bottle after emptying. An intense aroma of strawberries hits you immediately - sweet and fruity with an acidic undertone.

The taste is also intensely fruity - a powerful strawberry flavour with considerable sweetness. Any malt or beer notes are virtually masked, although there is a yeasty tartness that underpins the fruit. Mouthfeel is smooth and slightly astringent upon swallowing. Faint strawberry aftertaste.

This slips down easily - too easily. It's very sweet, though balanced by a reasonable acidic character. Would probably be rather cloying after more than one. I enjoy it and find it highly drinkable, but it's probably not for everyone. Would be best as refreshment on a hot day... (983 characters)

330 ml bottle with a BB March 2017 date stamp.
Looks like watered down strawberry puree with a thin, partial white head. Actually, not bad looking despite that description.
Nice mix of tart and sweet components with plenty of strawberry and strawberry jam flavor.

O: refreshing, fruity and not to sweet but best used as a dessert beverage. (344 characters)

Hmmmm, strawberry frozen yoghurt, strawberry Starburst, really sweet and candy-ish, way too sweet to be taken seriously, but not a total loss, some tartness, but its too sweet, like Belle-vues sweetened fruit beers. Too much of a candied cheery flavour, too sweet. (264 characters)
