Golden orange and cloudy with a white, foamy head that settles at a moderate pace. Lacing is alright. There is some yeast cake debris floating around that is a bit off-putting. Makes it look like marmalade.
Very estery nose. Apricot and nectarine notes, some citrus, and spicy with a plush yeast base.
Plenty of carbonation with a medium body. Flavour is zesty with a creamy, somewhat buttery edge. Tropical, very spicy, soft and delicate...lots of guava, hint of passion fruit, pineapple and citrus. Alcohol sticks out a bit but is tamed. There's a slight grassy, tea-like note that complements well. Rich, refreshing and complex.
Top notch Belgian with an appealing presentation and mad flavour. I see four packs of this now and will return.
Only problem is that the yeast is easily disturbed and can become loose in the bottle and doesn't resettle. I've had several bottles from Huyghe that ended up like this in the past, so it's not uncommon with me. Maybe distance/travel is the culprit or poor handling by my source. However, it does not appear to affect the flavour so it is just for appearances sake.
