Review from notes at World of Beer - Fort Myers on 9/29/11.
Poured on draft into a Delirium Tremens glass.
Appearance: Pours a medium gold with a 2 finger foamy white head. Excellent lacing.
Smell: Belgian yeast and cloves with a touch of other spices.
Taste: Belgian yeast and clove up front followed by sweet fruit and black pepper in the middle before ending with a mildly bitter finish. Aftertaste is peppery and bittersweet.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a good amount of carbonation.
Drinkability: Good drinkability. The elevated ABV% would keep you from drinking multiples, but it's still very good.
Overall: Very good beer overall. I think I prefer this one on draft, which is saying something. Definitely worth trying.
Serving type: on-tap

Light amber. Darker than Duvel and similar in colour to a Czech pils. Haziness made carbonation difficult to see
Smell is of onions, pear drops and candy. To me this, smells very similar to Duvel.
Taste is of malt, sugar, pear, apple with a touch of booze and a warm finish. It is a bit like an "imperial pilsner" beer as it has the same refreshing drinkability of a lager but with more alcohol warmth and more flavours going on. Bit of booze on the finish.
Mouthfeel is fizzy and palate cleanisng.
Overall I found this to be similar to a Duvel with perhaps a touch more caramel sweetness. A very good BSPA.
My mark out of one hundred would be 93.
