Poured into Chimay goblet. Pours a vibrant and cloudy yellow, very active carbonation with a fluffy two finger head. Nice amount of lacing compliments this bubbly brew.
As soon as I decanted the ale I could smell the yeast and lemon. Nose is boozy and sweet smelling yeast. Aroma is sugar, lemon, orange, pepper, and grains; notes of raisin and wood.
Crisp on the lips and tip of the tounge and very smooth on the palate as it goes down. Bitter hops and yeast dominate the overall flavor along with the strong sugar presence. Bits of dark fruits play around with lemon zest & wheat. Tremens produces a very forward booziness down the throat. Aftertaste is sweet tarts amd leaves the mouth dry.
I've seen this beer around many times and i have not checked it out until now (thanks BIF Educator!). I am a Belgian greenhorn still training my palate and have realized that I enjoy the Strong Pales; this one being the reinforcer. I look forward to purchasing some soon.

I've enjoyed a fair share of DT over the years. I've had it both on tap and in their ceramic coated bottles. I recommend having it on draft if possible. The bottles are sometimes off and the flavor just isn't the same. With distribution from Europe, you have no idea how long those bottles have been sitting in a hot New Jersey warehouse.
In it's prime, it pours golden with a beautiful head. In bottles, yeast will be at the bottom of the bottle.
It doesn't smell nearly as good as it tastes. Smells of ale and slight sweetness.
Taste is fruity, spicy, and very sweet. In its prime, I taste banana, orange, coriander, cinnamon, and molasses.
Overall, it's a great beer. I like the overpowering sweetness. It's something I can appreciate with food or by itself.
