From a 330 ml bottle (April 2013 notched in the label) into a tulip.
A-A normal pour produces about one and one-half fingers of mostly white head. The head drops quickly to a half-finger cap that sticks around for a long time. The brew is yellowish gold in color with a few sediment flakes floating around an otherwise clear liquid.
S-The smell is sweet and alcoholic with lighter fruits like apple flesh and pear complimenting some nice spice and banana yeast.
T-The taste mostly follows the smell with sweet alcohol being well integrated into the mixture and poking through mainly as fruit. There is a nice yeast profile (in that unmistakable Belgian style) and some pale malts to back things up. A little light on the hops.
M-The feel is medium weight with mild carbonation and a slickness that seems to accompany many stronger Belgian brews.
O-This is one of the beers that first got me into beer, and it remains delicious in my book. There are other, more complex examples of the style, but for a traditional, strong Belgian brew, Tremens is still a good pick.
