Finally got around to giving this a shot, after having it on my "to try" list for so long. I had no idea what would be inside of the ceramic bottle that this was well-known for and after finishing it over a long session, I nearly thought that I would be seeing pink elephants in the room. That being said, this was a strong and tasty beer that deserved the high rating that it has on here, but I could see how people would need a bit of an adjustment to this.

Sure enough, this poured like a beer of this style should - golden, cloudy, and with quite a fluffy head. The lacing was nice too and this beer had the aroma of strong sugary and fruity esters. There was bubble gum here along with apple, pear, and of course alcohol. It's present, strong, almost overpowering. Like most beers, this got better as it warmed up but it was never completely comfortable to drink. Rather, this had to be savored slowly since it was so much to take in; even with a mouthfeel that was just a tad heavy.

The reviews for this are so high because it seems to be the standard for lots of beers that have come after this. There's so much carbonation and booze here that it detracts a bit but anyone who downs a full bottle of this should be proud, for expanding his or her beer horizons if nothing else. The flavors work decently together and no beer will taste quite the same again once this is downed - just ask the pink elephants.

Poured into the Duvel tulip. The "D" etched on the bottom of the glass complemented this beer very well.

P- Honey colored body with a soapy 1 finger head. High level of fizzy bubbles rising from the "D" on the bottom of the glass.

S- Banana, orange peel, mango, peach, slight biscuity aroma and candy sugar.

T- Biscuit/Breadyness, banana, mango and candy sugar.

M- Fizzy and over carbonated for my taste. The "kick" from the carbonation masks the warm flavours of this beer. Light bodied and a dry finish.

O- Very solid and well constructed Belgian Ale. Not perfect by any means, but is a treat to share with a friend or two or your other half.

Poured into a wheat glass

Appearance: A solid two fingers of creamy head with a bright white color. The brew appears a hazy copper color, or dark gold.

Smell: Scent strongly gives off banana aromas, there seems to be some spice notes in the background. Slight lemon zest.

Taste: Full bodied, hefeweizen like style. Lemon zest and some banana flavor up front with a clean finish. Leaves very little after taste. Beautiful lacing along the glass.

Overall : Very desirable.

Lemon yellow sun body with thick huge white head.

Icing sugar and wheat aroma, light and sarsaparilla in effect on the nose.

Taste is half and half real barley strains slight spiced notes in there heavy on the alcohol.

Good mouthfeel lively carbonation leaves an interesting brew
would get a kinky party going ;)

A: Pale yellow color very bright with a rocky withe head that dissipates slowly and leaves some traces on the glass,

S: Barley backbone with some alcohol and also some spiciness smell is pleasant and should contain some herbs and fruits not clear to distinguish but present no doubts.

T: High alcohol is present but not overwhelming and the flavor is nice, intense barley with some fruits and some hops also balanced tasting.

M: Excellent sensation, balanced and well built, some sweetness and little bitterness are present and a lasting ending.

Enjoying with my good friend pchul4.

A: Pours a beautiful light golden color with a small amount of frothy, lingering head.

S: Smells exacly like bananas, and strongly too. Looking forward to this one.

T: There is a slight banana flavor evident along with a noticable amount of bitterness from the hops. At 8.5% the alcohol is not noticable whatsoever.

M: Extremely smooth and easy drinking, I could definitely drink a whole 6 pack of this.

O: Great Belgian brew.

A- First impression comes from the high level of carbonation. Only poured myself half the bottle and it gave me a full inch of head. Other than that very light orange/yellow

S- Banana hits you in the face. Beyond that some pale malts and a hint of clove, no hopes to be found

T- Nose but stronger. Also as it warms some alcohol comes out but not in a bad way at all. Definitely worth the price IMO

M- Little too much carbonation for me. Wish it could tone that down a bit

O- As I said before I don't mind the $5 for 12oz at all as this was a good one. Worth trying at least once
