Pours out golden amber and sits deep orange-brown in the glass with a smallish off-white, light tan head, fading to a small skim; nice lacings.
Smells rich and sweet, full malt aroma. Spicy alcoholic nose with notes of over-ripened apples, dates and golden raisins. Yeasty character bringing forth a dry-crackery aroma.
Tastes sweet up front, full of fruity ester flavors. Plump rasins, prunes and apple leather make up the bulk of the flavors. Peppery alocholic spiciness pricks at the toungue and offers balance to the large malty core. Finished mildly bitter, with increasing dryness and lingering spiciness and fruit flavors.
Smooth to the core with light and tact carbonation in a medium-full body. Glides around the mouth quite easily, coating with its thick malty character.
Quite tasty, easy to handle, even at 10.0%. Flavor is definately there, but it a bit rough in some spots. Spiciness seems to be less of a character boost and more of a character flaw further in. 1 bottle definately enough, once a year, sure.
