Large, large-bubbled head. It settles to only ring bubbles (still large), leaving no lace at all. The color of the brew is a deep amber, nearly brown and crystal clear.

Fresh biscuits with honey is the first smell I detect. There is faint alcohol and hop toward the end of the smell.

There's a brandy sweetness to the beer that reminds me of raspberries and apricots. Lightly sour in the swallow. The alcohol is quite prominent in the swallow. The aftertaste is short lived. Full bodied with a respectable level of carbonation. There's a touch of spice (all spice?, white pepper)

750mL bottle into a chalice
All kinds of bottle numbers that I cant interpret: LO3 -12234

A: Pours a mahoghany color with reddish hues when held to the light. Just over 1 fingers width of slightly off white colored head. Excellent rentention. Leaves a good amount of lacing down the sides of the glass.

S: Candied sugar, bready yeast, orange, lemon zest, coriander, caramel malt, not much spice just a bit of nutmeg and a hint of black pepper. Lots of aromas, Im just not sure how well they play off each other.

T: Orange, sweet caramel, spice, dark fruits, cherry cough syrup, some boozy flavors, bubblegum. Again, great complexity, but its just not working like it should for me.

M/D: Pretty smooth, medium body, slightly syrupy, carbonation on the higher side of the continuum, but appropriate. ABV is kept in check very well. Drinkability is good, but its a sipper for sure.

O: Overall, this was somewhat of a disappointment, for 2 reasons. One, I LOVE the regular Delirium Tremens, so I had high hopes for this. And two, I recently had St. Bernardus Christmas Ale which is a BSDA that just blew this one out of the water. There is a lot going on here, but for me the characteristics just dont blend very well. Not bad, but I certainly wont have more than one in the holiday season. Maybe Ill have another next year though.

A: Pours a nice amber mahogany color with 2 fingers worth of head that retains for a long time. Only drawback is the huge amount of chunky sediment throughout

S: Some sweet malts, fruits, and subtle spices. Alcohol lends more fruitiness and some sweetness

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the sweetness of the malts and nice fruitiness. Goes into a lingering bit of spiciness and more sweetness. Finishes slightly bitter with some phenolic character

M: Medium bodied with moderate-high carbonation that cleanses the palate after each sip

O: A solid holiday-styled BSDA with nice complexity and good fruit and spice character. The alcohol is well hidden and accentuates the flavors nicely. A solid holiday sipper

On tap at Instant Replay in Canoga Park, CA.

Pours a clear orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, brown sugar, fruits, spices, and a slightly tart aroma. Taste is much the same with a mild spice bitterness with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but the tartness is unexpected even though it works out with the aromas and flavors.
