12 oz bottle, poured into a goblet

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, cloudy, amber color with two fingers of white head that quickly dissolved into a halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass and formed wispy clouds that partially covered the top of the beer.

Aroma: Tons of Belgian yeast, candied sugar, citrus (orange peel, grapefruit, sour lemon), toasted malt.

Taste: Exactly like the aroma, but a little more too. Belgian yeast up front, imparting notes of banana, clove and bubblegum, followed by tons of citrus: orange peel, grapefruit, sour lemon. Finally, the beer finishes with a nice malty backbone and some hops. Delicious!

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied to chewy. With an ABV of 10%, there is quite a lot of alcohol on the palate, imparting a pleasant warmth.

Overall: This is another goddamn excellent Belgian Christmas beer!! I love the strong Belgian yeast flavors as well as the strong citrus notes. Absolutely delicious!

Good color, decent head that lasts awhile. Pleasant taste, but doesn't stand out. Drinkable. Nice label.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Solid pop of the cork dated 2014.

Gorgeous dark ruby body color, with light tan carbonation on the sides. Real gem of a looker here, touched with a tan and supper foamy and rocking head. Lots of retention and staying power. Thick capped, huge retention, just a gorgeous classic looking Belgian.

Lots of spicy notes on the bouquet. Hints nutmeg, clove, and a toasty fennel seed like quality also. Some mild caramel but some classic Belgian candi like sweetness round out also. Quite inviting, not your typical Belgian and quite unique it seems on the aroma.

Palate comes nicely but much more simply. Mid palate washed with a mild caramel and toffee candy like sweetness. A fascinating mild sense of peppermint and chocolate finish in the aftertaste. Real interesting spiced angle on this with a classic hint of honey and sweetness. Nice mouthfeel, with some good coating on the lips contributing much of that honey character and some semi-dry carbonation.

Not the most mind bending brew, but a great take on Delirium with a real neat taste.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep hazy brown body with a huge off-white head. Great retention.

Smell - Lots of yeast. Banana. Christmas spices. Maybe that's just clove from the yeast. Very fruity.

Taste - Nutty malts. Banana. Spices kick in after the malts die down a bit. Still very fruity, but Christmas spices linger in the finish.

Mouthfeel - High carbonation, but it works for the style. Medium body.

Overall - While the Belgian yeast really dominates, it doesn't have some nice flavors that manage to shine through.

750 ml Bottle

Served in a Tulip Glass

Eyes
Towering off-white foam head… we’re talking three-to-four fingers deep here. The head slowly collapsed and left a good amount of sticky, bubbly lacing. The body was a rich amber, nearing mahogany in darkness.

Nose
Sweet and spicy notes dominated the nose. The yeast was definitely present. Perhaps I am crazy but I found the overall aroma to be quite similar to an arrangement of lilies in a funeral home… you can take that however you want to.

Mouth
Many of the sweet notes from the nose successfully transferred over in the taste. Great presence of dark fruit… think dates, raisin, fig, etc. Strong caramel backbone found in the malts. The yeast was present but did not take centre stage. The alcohol was masked pretty well, only a few notes of alcohol broke through in the finish.

Overall
There are not many bad things to say about this brew. It hit the spot on a bitterly cold night. We could sit here all night and talk about everything this beer is not like, but that’s a waste of a good night.

Appearance: Amber body, with a huge three finger rock head and big lacing.

Aroma/Flavor: Westmalle dubbel-esque. Rust and dates.

Mouthfeel: Well hidden alcohol, and very drinkable.
