'brewed with spices and juice of apple'

bottle poured into a snifter. pours a pale golden color with a touch of loose bubbles that do not last long.

aroma is strong, with sweet and sour apple notes and a distant sweetness reminiscent of lindemans pomme.

taste is of restrained apple and floral notes with a very crisp profile and a finish that leaves little behind. very unique in its crispness and its floral note that envelops the palate, absorbing much of the sweetness. faint cinnamon in the background after warming.

mouthfeel is medium bodied and semi-dry with a crisp finish and slick aftertaste.

drinkability is decent. the floral notes and crisp finish are unexpected, but do not necessarily make the brew that much better. still, it could be a solid apple brew with more sour and funk, but it ends up being glorified fruit juice.

A: The beer is slightly hazy pale light yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a small collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of apples are present in the nose—these mostly seem like apple juice and not like the apple Jolly Rancher aromas I've seen in other fruit lambics.
T: The taste is similar to the smell except that it has a light amount of sweetness along with faint bits of sourness.
M: It feels light-bodied (but not watery) on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather pleasant to drink and the apple aromas and flavors don't seem to be artificial.

Bottle: decent 330mL brown bottle, bright and traditional Belgian farmhouse-style label.

Appearance: cloudy bright yellow straw in colour with initial fizzy carbonation that drops back to sporadic fine bubbles. A half-centimetre head disappears reasonably quickly, leaving a ring around the glass. Decent lacing.

Aroma: really quite pleasant - a combination of sweet apples and malts.

Taste: this stuff is fantastic, if a little too sweet for my palate. Again those sweet apple flavours come through, but this time there is a tartness as well. Some wheat and mouth-filling malts hang about too. Fantastic.

Aftertaste: the wheat and malts carry through better than the apple, funnily enough. There is a pinch of sourness in the back though. Overall, very nice and extremely drinkable.

Mouth feel: moderate body which is quite smooth and filling. Lower to moderate carbonation, which suits this lambic perfectly.

Overall: this is only the third lambic I have had to date. The other 2 I found to be a bit of an acquired taste as they were so different and so sour. This one has a good combination of sweet, sour, tart and a malt-driven smoothness. Very nice, even at AU$95 a case (2013).

Presentation: 11.2 oz. brown bottle served in a stemless, oversized wine glass.

Appearance: Thin 1/2 finger head that fizzles out into a thin ring that stays 'till the end, and it leaves some great lacing. It's a cloudy, bright yellow color.

Smell: It has a simple, very sweet and pleasant smell. A mix of malt with red and green apples.

Taste: The sweet and sour taste is great and something that's not found in any other brew. The sour of the green apples dominate, but it's balanced nicely by a red apple and malt sweetness in the background.

Mouthfeel: Creamy and medium bodied with very little carbonation. It's light and very easy to drink.

Overall: Despite the sweetness on the nose and palate, everything feels nicely balanced, surprisingly. This beer is not cloying at all and doesn't have that candy flavor that turns away a lot of people from these types of fruit beers. It's great, very simple and refreshing. Proof that a good beer is not just about having a thousand flavors crammed into a bottle.
