Ew, I'm not sure if they changed their recipe over time but I am shocked that this beer is rated as "Good" based on the 2014 release. It should have thrown me off when I read the bottle "natural flavors with stevia added" but at the time I drew a blank trying to think of what stevia meant. As soon as I took the first sip it hit me: fake sugar.

This beer tastes like diet cherry 7up. It starts off with an innocent and encouraging ruby colored brew with a whitish pink head.

Aroma is where things begin to head downhill. Medicinal cherries and some Belgian malts.

The taste is good for about a half second and then you get a fake cherry and fake sugar flavor that lingers. This seriously tastes like a diet soda with a shot of strong ale added. It's not drinkable. I poured more than half the $12.99 bomber down the drain. I thought about saving it for cooking but realized it would probably ruin any food that I added it to. Gross.

Chill hazed red colored beer with a small pink head.

Smells strongly of cherries. Some malt and coriander but this is all cherry scent.

Starts out sweet and tart. Sour cherry and some bitterness this tastes lots like lindemans Kriek. Little bit of woody flavor but this one is mostly fruit.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall a tasty fruit beer. Your enjoyment of this will be almost solely determined by how much you like cherries. I make my own cherry wine so, I like it.

I purchased this bottle at a mini market near the grand place in Brussels, enjoyed chilled in a small glass.

The color is deep crimson which borders on burgundy with thick haze and pink creamy head with fine bead. The smell is strong as in fruit-wise and has a similar aroma to a Luden's cough drop with light yeast scent and an almost vegetal tinge in the background. The feel is sweet, strong and lower than average carbonation with semi-swet and strong finish.

The flavor is very cherry with sweet up front on the tip of the tongue with mild Belgian character making it seem less sweet with a light phenolic but as it warms it seems sweeter almost like cherry syrup type flavor and verges on cloying and not as enjoyable. Overall this is okay, but I expected more based on the other Delirium beers sweeter than expected which is okay if you like sweet cherry but the only real thing I liked is the cherry has a natural flavor.

Poured from a 750 ml corked bottle into a Duvel tulip glass. 2014 bottle.

Appearance: Pours a dark brownish red with a lot of bubbles. About two fingers of pinkish head that fade into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a good amount of lacing.

Smell: A very fruity and sweet aroma with big hints of cherries and berries. Belgian yeast with some hints of funk, pepper, and clove. Huge scent of sweet and somewhat tart cherries along with some strawberry rhubarb and grape. Hints of sugar add to the sweetness. Soft hints of wheat, caramel malt, and cracker. Very fruit forward and bordering on being cloying but it smells good.

Taste: Like it smells, a very sweet and fruity taste with notes of cherries and berry. Belgian yeast with some laid back notes of funk, clove, and pepper. Big taste of cherries along with some notes of grape, strawberry, and other berries. Fruit taste is pretty sweet and tart as well as somewhat medicinal. Kind of artificial compared to some fruit beers but its not overly cloying and its still fairly enjoyable. Subtle malt background with notes of caramel, cracker, and wheat. Very sweet but good.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Very sweet and fairly slick and syrupy. Alcohol is hidden well.

Overall: A pretty decent Belgian fruit beer. The sweetness is almost too much but its still drinkable. The flavors are somewhat artificial tasting but still enjoyable. Overall a decent brew.

11.2 oz into Teku

Pours a murky dark reddish brown color with nice ruby hints around the edges. Really doesn't let much light through. A small, soft, creamy tannish-pink head adorns the top, but dissipated quickly, leaving some chunky bubbles around the edges.

Aroma hits with real funky cherry and raspberry notes. I emphasize the funk - like sort of an old, about-to-rot raspberry funk. Not a good classic Belgian funk. Artificial-sweetener type sweetness is present as well as a bit of cough-syrup. Not the most appealing, to be honest.

Taste is strong with artificial sweetener, and a strong cough-syrup cherry like presence. Whew...not very pleasant to be honest. Tastes sort of chemically and overly sweet. I'm done here....oof, I rarely drain pour a beer, but this one is out. I don't know if this is a bad bottle or what, but this is not good. I should note, too, that I'm a huge fan of lambics and all their fruit variations. Just not this one.

On tap at the Thirsty Monk (AVL).
Dark red-amber body with a very good head.
Loads of dark cherry aroma; hints of almonds and light spicing. Alcohol esters.
Flavor. Medium tartness wins out over a noticeable sweetness and mild bitterness. Strong but appealing and balanced flavor.

12oz bulbous branded chalice at MKT - an exclusive, apparently - Scott@Horizon - how could you, me auld son?

This beer appears a dark, hazy (maybe) magenta hue, with one skinny finger of wispy, bubbly, and, I'm guessing, fizzy pink-tinged head, which leaves some low-lying headland lace around the glass as things lazily sink away.

It smells of sugary cherry menthol lozenges, bready caramel malt, a suggestion of funky yeast, and ethereal leafy, earthy hops. The taste is semi-sweet, concentrated black cherries, the cough syrup quality receding for the moment, gritty pale and caramel malt, even more faint yeast, now bereft of any sort of funky or otherwise astringent notes, and some hovering dry, and innocuous musty green hops.

The carbonation is quite laid-back, just a playful frothiness throughout, the body a sturdy medium weight, which is right in line for this bunch, and more smooth than I might have been expecting. It finishes on the sweet side, just, the well-moderated cherry character carrying on and on, amongst a plain Belgian ale sweet and sour essence.

A heady and pleasant enough Belgian fruit beer - why they don't denominate this a Kriek, I'll probably never know. At any rate, the 16-proof booze is crazily integrated, everything else going about its duty with style and aplomb. Worthy of a go - nothing overtly complex, yet I can't help but suggest it, should you like the style, as broad as it is.

Poured from the bottle into my DC Brau tulip...

A - Auburn complexion small pink head on top.

S - Smells of fruit syrup, pomagranites and cherry.

T - Ripe red cherries in the fore, sweet but not cloying, a little sour apple in the background and hints of baking spices stashed in there as well.

M - For the style I'd say they did the mouthfeel right. I enjoy the small bubble carbonation, medium light body, and sticky feel.

Overall I like it and would have it again. If I brewed this beer I would aim for a much dirtier, more sour focused version. This aims towards a Leifmans' style everybody friendly palate. Much enjoyed though. Slainte!

11/20...pours dark crimson red with cling pink tinged white foam. Fruity nose. Malty too. Fruity taste, cranberries, cherries. Some tartness rolls into a belgian yeast hop. Really good.

My favorite candy is Laffy Taffy so it's no mystery as to why I like this. The aroma and flavors give away a candied, sugary cherry taffy with touches of cotton candy and malts. This is very sweet and tangy and may confine itself to a certain audience but for me it's like liquid childhood.

Enjoyed from a bomber, this Belgian pours a hazy thick red with brownish tinges and fluffy pink foam head that dies down to a thin ring and nice lacing. Nose of thick dark pie cherries, sweet malts, and a touch of alcohol in the nose. Others compared the nose and aroma to a Ludens cherry cough drop, and I will have to concur. Flavors are up front sweet/tart cherries, sweet malts carry it through with a nicely carbonated mouth feel and sweet yet lightly tart aftertaste. I will admit, it is unique, not everyone's cup of tea. Wish I would of finished with this one, but still a good experience.

From the corked caged 750 ml. bottle stamped 20:46 L17-14055. Sampled on December 1, 2014.

It pours reddish-brown with a tan head that does not last long.

The aroma is very fruity with berries, wine, or grape as another way to define it. There is also a flat cardboard character going on.

Light to medium body.

Grape and fruit juice are really the way to define what this beer tastes like with malts and hops being buried in the fruity mix. Usually their beers are very enjoyable for me but this one is much lower on my list of favs.

A:Crimson, pours with minimal head which quickly resolves to fine off white edging of foam

S: Cherry, rather medicinal, akin to cough syrup,

T: Incredibly sweet and cloying up front, medicinal (tastes like cough syrup), cloying finish and metallic aftertaste

M: Minimal carbonation, syrupy texture, not pleasant

O: Lesson learned. I didn't read the bottle before purchasing, saw the Delirium logo and assumed it would be of the same quality as their Tremens and Nocturnum. Hands down the worst lambic I've had, the addition of stevia may explain the cloying sweetness and awful afteraste. Only drank a third of the bottle, had to toss the rest.

Appearance: Dark red with an off white head.

Smell: Smells of cherries and a slight belgium funk

Taste: Not my cup of tea. It's a slight cherry flavor. Not enough for a kriek, but too much for a double or triple. nothing stands out.

Mouthfeel: Heavy.

Overall: Very unimpressed with this beer. They can do better.

11.2 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a snifter

It is deep red in color. It is capped with two inches of pink head.

It smells like ripe, tart cherries.

The taste is all cherry, red, tart cherry.

It has a fuller mouthfeel.

If you like cherries, you will like this beer.

A: The beer is clear but very dark red in color. When held up to a bright light, I can barely make out a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high light pink head that died down rather quickly, leaving only a trace of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of cherry cough syrup are present in the nose.
T: Just like the smell, this beer tastes just like a cherry cough syrup, although it isn't sweet and sticky.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather drinkable for its strength because it manages to hide its alcohol very well. It's not a bad selection if you like the smell and flavor of cherry cough drops.

A: poured into a tulip to a deep red topped by a finger of soapy pink head that fades to a small mat with some lacing
S: smells of cherries and that's about it
T: taste is tart cherry, a little malt and more cherry flavor with some lingering tartness. swallow is more tart cherry with a little more malt
M: the beer is moderate in heft with soft carbonation and a slightly drying finish
O: Honestly, it isn't bad at all. The cherry seems artificial at times and while it lacks the substance of Belgian Red it's definitely easier to obtain and a quality brew.

I didn't notice the cherry ear-rings on the front label's elephant when I bought this (most likely wouldn't have bought it if I had). Another reminder to wear my glasses when buying new beers.

330ml Bottle: BBD June 2014, poured into a Westmalle chalice at home during July 2013.

What can I say: it's a bloody cherry beer, too sweet and with loads of alcohol thrown in.

As the name suggests, this is a red coloured brew: the fast fading head had a light pink hue.

As the ear-rings suggested, cherries play a part in the taste, in fact they are the only flavour and aroma I got.

I thought it both sickly and disappointing. If you are into high alcohol fruit beers this might be your bag, but it's not for me.

330ml bottle served in a TULIP glass (La Chouffe). Enjoyed on Mar´11
Dark red color & foggy body with glowing ruby to the light. Dense & extended froth with fairly well surprising retention in a fruit beer.Strawberry & red fruit explosion in nose, hints of candy.Smooth at first sip, sweet & fruity palate. Lack of sourness. Innusual medium body & well balanced carbonation. Fruity sweet turns to a mildy bitterness on the aftertaste. Drinkable but watch up the well camouflated ABV.

Deep red brown colour, floaties evident. Pours a finger head which is slightly brown and slightly pink in colour.

Smells of deep dark cherries and dark malt, sweet, leathery.

Tastes of unsweetened dried cherries, dark malt, leather, little sweetness. Some prune and raisins.

Thick, syrupy body, low carbonation.

Overall, very impressive from the bottle to the brew. Really is like organic unsweetened cherries in liquid form to me. Is definitely different than other Kreiks or cherry beers I’ve tried. Will give this Definitely worth a try if you can get your hands on one. Its great as a desert beer, with white chocolate or other deserts which match cherries.

This beer has a nice smooth effervescence and is red as advertised but tastes and smells way too sweet and too much like cherry cough drops for my taste. Definitely tastes like cherries. Would have preferred less sugar. After taste a bit like diet soda.
