De Beergium. En copa Grimbergen. Estudiando. No está mal pero tampoco dice mucho y viene en un formato muy pequeño. Una birra de perfil típicamente belgas con tendencia al dulzor acaramelado

Pours a nice deep ruby brown with a creamy two finger head.

Nose of dark raisins, figs, musty cellar notes and caramel.

Taste is really raisony and bready up front. Also some figs and prunes in there. A musty note midway through. There is a nice semi roasty chocalateyness, and the finish has some dark candied sugar in it. Also a wee bit of tartness.
No hops or hop bitterness in here.

Really creamy mouthfeel and a real nice complexity, just not completely my favorite.

When I was drinking I only thought that it was around 5 or 6 abv and I see it's 7.3. Interesting

On draught at Brasserie Beck in D.C.

Appearance: Deep copper, straw, gold color, a white, one-finger head with great retention and very attractive, streaky lacing. Heavy looking but active carbonation.

Aroma: Sweet fruits, dates, spicy, floral hops, and alcohol. Well balanced.

Taste: Also very balanced. Sweet, lightly roasted malt and figs are pitted against tart citrus and plenty of hop bitterness, and lots of yeasty spices are noticeable up front. Spices are well-rounded, and there's a hint of alcohol in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Thick, good sublimation feel, a fairly even (though not perfect) and medium-sized bubble profile makes for a reasonably smooth mouthfeel.

Drinkability: Good, but not outstanding. It's a sipping beer, thick and sweet, and moderately alcoholic. It's also reasonably entertaining to drink, though I don't know if I'd have more than one glass.

A full beer, but one I find myself not being too enthusiastic about. It was interesting, moderately tasty, and pretty drinkable, but I just wasn't that gung-ho about it. All the pieces were in place though, so maybe I'm short-changing it. Give it a go.

Pours deep orange, with a small off-white head. very active carbonation in this filtered beer...

Nose is of mildly sweet detergent, reminds me particularly of automatic dishwasher detergent. A bit soapy.

Taste is better than the nose, a bit citrus-like, though further into the taste more detergent-like bitterness appears and becomes the dominant feature. Beer goes down the drain shortly thereafter.

Another poor beer from Huyghe brewery, whose only claim to fame seems to be the delerium beers despite having a stable of utterly mediocre products.

Thanks to hopdog for this...
Best before May of '07.
Appears a light gold with mild carbonation bubbles pumping up to the top of a small white head that fades into a small collar.
Smell is of yeasty apricots and golden raisins.
Taste is of the same aromas but perhaps a drop down with too much yeast stuffing up the mouth and getting in the way.
Mouthfeel is yeasty caramel sweet and a bit off.

330ml bottle with gold foil - no freshness date.

Pours a deep brown with minimal head that quickly disipates to leave behind some healthy lacing. A malty aroma arises from the glass, full of sweet fruit with a hint of alcohol in the background. Tastes very interesting, an odd mix of chocolate, yeast and light sourness.. there is alcohol warming in the aftertaste, which I would not expect from a beer of this abv. Smooth, full bodied and syrupy, this is certainly meant for sipping. Would be perfect in the winter or around the holidays.

Cellared for about 1 and half years, this has now taken on some brilliant flavours, sweet and sherry-flavoured.

The grand large-bubble head started off very thick and full, but very quickly went down to a couple centimetres. Rapidly moving lace, which does not seem very viscous. A brown coloured head, sitting atop a beautiful rosewood, cherry coloured beer. The appearance and hue is very rich, very solid, looking much like a good brown ale, with the addition of some ruby. The aroma is intensely fruit-filled, with some alcohol presence, such as a strong fruit brandy or port. Tangerines, peaches, dark cherries, and sour candy sweetness, with heavy yeast. The yeast does not cover the lovely dark malt smell, however--that is quite noticeable underneath, more so than many strong Belgians. The taste is intense sweet acidity on the front, strongly fruitful, with a very noticeable nutty flavour in the middle, roasted. The finish is surprisingly malty and balanced, but still dry from the yeast and alcohol bite. Musky fruits, such as apples and plums. Oily sweetness, which would pair exceptionally with a rich cheese. Aging this beer has increased the phenols and the yeast characteristics. The carbonation is as expected, biting and quite gaseous, becoming very foamy in the mouth almost immediately. Mouthfeel is full, besides some lightness in the body--not quite as heavy as I was expecting. Very flavourful, very delicious, but not something I personally could drink every day without exception. It is perfect on a semi-special occasion, no doubts there.

I was very much disappointed in the lack of flavor with this beer especially since Belgians are one of my favorite beer styles. It definitely was lacking in the flavor category. It had a small sized tan head that contained fine-small sized bubbles that was mostly with fair lacing. The body was mostly clear with lively/fizzy carbonation observed along with some yeast at the bottom of my glass. The hue was brown and the nose was malty. The flavor was malt and caramel with a very smooth mouthfeel, light bodied, thin and somewhat watery. If this beer had more flavor I would have given this beer a higher rating in the Flavor category and a higher Overall score.

Sweet and very thin, light body, slightly yeasty character, slight;y flowery aroma. Very sugary mouthfeel, a bit fizzy aswell, not a favourite at all, and not agood example of a good belgian ale.

Presentation: 11.2 oz slender brown bottle topped with gold foil, no freshness date.

Appearance: Very tawny yellowish-brown with a deep red hue similar to a sunset, slight chill haze with a thin yet creamy lace.

Smell: Ripe date like sweetness or even closer to dried date sugar. Mild creamy and syrupy caramel nose with raw grain and a light mix of phenols and a quick alcohol in the aroma also.

Taste: Full bodied with an even syrup mouth feel, moderate carbonation and on the sweet side. Cake like malt like sweetness doubled with a flavourful blend of a date like fruit and some caramel. Alcohol is apparent with a sweet spicy taste that tingles the tongue, light on the phenols which leave a brief medicinal note. A quick fade of hops show some balance, just enough residual sweetness in the finish.

Notes: A great balance between malt, alcohol and hops. This is more of a dessert or aperitif type beer due to it being in the full side and not a beer you could just quaff down quickly. Doesn’t rock the boat too much and seems a little placid in character … just a mellow yet alcoholic Belgian brew.
