Visited on a Monday after work. Arrived about 5:15pm.

I will never go back to the place.

A – Crowded, dusty, but well lit. Essentially rows and rows of boxes with shelves around the sides. Makes me think of warehouse where the owners buy anything as long as its at the right price and they think they can sell it for a profit. 3

Q – Poor. Any bottle not in a cooler was dusty and many were old and past their drink by date. The heavy beers with still suspect since they were not in coolers. 2.5

S – Terrible. All the staff stood at the front talking. They were laughing and screaming. Didn’t even attempt to ask about their stock. 2

S – Very average selection. A few good Belgians. A bunch of Clown Shoes and Great Divides (but see quality above). Cases of Rochefort 10 (never seen that before). 3

F – N/A

V – Average selection and poor quality but decent prices. $$

I occasionally stop by here on the way to work. The selection is decent, pretty much all of the locals and a fair offering of Belgians and other American craft beers. Its slightly above average for the state because they pull down some pretty big beers at times - Black Ops, for instance. How is beyond me, because a case of something that rare lasts a matter of minutes in town, and is on the shelf a week at Camp Creek.

Turnover is slow here. When a Terrapin one-off is released, and all of the major stores run out, Camp Creek likely got a decent amount, and still has some left. This is where I scored half a dozen bottles of Depth Charge months after it sold out elsewhere.

Most of the staff probably doesn't know a thing about beer, but its ok, that's probably how they were selling Stille Nact at half price, presumably because it was "old". This is a liquor store first and foremost, with a decent beer selection, and, in my opinion, the easiest place to buy limited releases in Atlanta.

Selection - An average visit for me lasts 45 minutes. There are enough beer varieties to make me confused and indecisive. The Belgian selection is small but will satisfy most Belgian lovers. Lots of American crafts. A couple Scottish ales as well as a decent amount of English beers. The entire Sam Adams Imperial series in addition to the basic Sam Adams varieties are carried here. I was quite satisfied with the German beers they carried and am waiting to check out the the Czech beers they carry. And I was pleasantly surprised to find Samichlaus and Two Turtle Doves.

Service - I feel as if I am on my own. Although it was a salesperson at this store that introduced me to a universe beyond Budweiser and Heineken, I get the sense that few people in the store are able to offer suggestions or recommendations. I must say however that I prefer it this way - I like the trial and error that goes with exploration.

Value - The prices are roughly equivalent to those at Hop City and Green's. I've noticed that St. Bernardus 12 is about .75 more.

In comparison to Green's or Hop City, there is some "drop off", but with a bit of effort, you can find something that will certainly leave you satisfied. If Camp Creek were a department store for beer, I'd rank it as a Bloomingdale's - much better than Macy's but not a Nordstrom's (Bergdorf Goodman is the absolute best).

Nice, big Southside store very close to airport- in fact, so close that its a great option to pick up some locals on teh way to the airport or the way out of it. Has a fairly decent selection, if somewhat eclectic. Won't have every new release, but has a fair number of Belgian and German imports, most locals including Dank Tank and Side Project releases fom Sweetwater and Terrapin respectively, and the occasional very special release. I went down there for the first time because I heard a report that they had some Brooklyn Black Ops. Sure enough, 6 bottles were on the shelf. Pretty good for this location. I suspect that this store will sell a bit slower than up in the city proper, and so should be a good place to find those local specialties that have disappeared from most Atlanta stores. Big store with lots of wine and liquor as well. Clean and effecient, friendly, but I didn't see anyone who was a beer expert.

This is not really a southside store, more like the westside of Atlanta. It is just outside I-285 off of Camp Creek Parkway. Still, it is undoubtedly the best Package store within a reasonable distance of what is termed the "southern crescent". It beats the stores in Stockbridge and McDonough all hollow in terms of selection, though price is pretty much the same. A very good selection of distilled spirits and, for me, a fair selection of crafts, micros and imports. I'm not a wine drinker, so I haven't paid attention to their wine selection. The beer selection isn't much less than Green's Ponce store, though I haven't been to the Buford Hwy store in ages. For reference, picked up an 11 oz bottle of Trippiste Rochefort 10 for $5.99, a bomber of St. Bernardus Abt 12 for $9.99 and one of Delirium Tremmens for $8.99. There are enough singles, both chilled and unchilled, to keep me happy for a while.

Noticed this package store being built as the Camp Creek Marketplace expanded. It is about 8 miles from where I work, so planned on hitting this store during a lunch break. Never did go by this store all this time but Ding's review of the place convinced me it was worth a stop. It is a much larger shop than I first thought. Mostly wine and spirits, but the beer selection (especially for the south side) is nothing to dismiss. This is probably THE best place to shop for craft / import beer in the south side of Atlanta. It has an impressive selection of Unibroue for the entire Atlanta area as well. I got a few Belgian beers I normally don't see at my local stops. As mentioned earlier, this is an excellent place to pick up local beer if you have a long layover. If you are on a business trip in the airport area and can't get to a good local watering hole (most are distant), pick up a few here and chill 'em in the hotel room.
