Notes/Commercial Description:
Heyoka is a western charged firecracker. We conjured the classics in Chinook and Amarillo then laid them on a bed of pale malt. This India Pale Ale shoots straight to the bitter edge before falling into a mellow haze. Deep gold and ready to travel into the distance. The Heyoka resides in the opposite and is said to use the wind as sticks to beat the drum of thunder.

A: Pale light golden yellow in color. Forms a moderate sized white head. Some moderate lacing.

S: The aroma is the star of this show. Full of juicy citrus, clementine, candied kumquats, and orange zest. A touch of pine and just a little bit of pale malt in the mix.

T: Taste starts off dry with the flavor of pale malts and even just a bit of toast. Then it turns citrusy. Unfortunately its not the juicy citrus that is present in the aroma, but a much more dry and bitter type of citrus. Grapefruit pith and biscuit malt. Finish has a little bit of woody pine to it.

M: On the lighter side of medium. Moderate bitterness. Appropriate carbonation. Dry.

O: A good beer and while its not stellar, I do appreciate the fact it tastes like a beer and doesn't have a 100 ingredients from the local farmer's market added to it. Approachable, drinkable, and enjoyable.

Pour into a pilsner glass that yields a healthy two inch head that lasts a time, time and a half. Cloudy pale yellow. Best lacing I've seen in awhile.

Citrus, hoppy, piney, grassy earthy aromas. Sweet malt.

Hoppy bitter onrush. Citrus and pine flavours. Malt sweetness balances this. Grapefruit rind and Sugar Smacks cereal. Dankness ensues.

Medium body and finishes dry.

Its like Half Acre is setting the standard for IPAs. Truly a classic nailed. A lot of hop/malt structure with dankness. Nice to see a local attainable brew from a brewery with a lot of success. Can we expect Heydoka Dos in the near future? Tremendously tremendous!
