Formerly Heyoka IPA

Heyoka is a western charged firecracker. We conjured the classics in Chinook and Amarillo then laid them on a bed of pale malt. This India Pale Ale shoots straight to the bitter edge before falling into a mellow haze. Deep gold and ready to travel into the distance. The Heyoka resides in the opposite and is said to use the wind as sticks to beat the drum of thunder.

a - Poured 16oz can into tulip. nice 2 finger fluffy white head. slightly hazy golden yellow

s - nice citrus aroma, grapefruit, some resinous pine

t - bitter grapefruit, some underlying sweetness but it's quickly overpowered by a bitter piney finsh

m - great carbonation, medium body, somewhat sticky, dry on the finish

o - great IPA, not as balanced as some but if you are looking for a bitter hoppy IPA this is it. Wish this was available in the Chicago burbs. would love to pair this with some wings.

16oz can. Served in a stemmed glass 12/22/2014.

A- Hazy, but not cloudy, copper-coloured body, two finger white head with nice retention and good longevity. Thick large bubbles make up the collar and a moderately sized film on the surface of the beer. Small islands of lacing.

S- As soon as the can got popped, I got strong citrus flavours. Not grapefruit, but more along the lines of tangerines. Also some oranges and pine. It's fairly impressive. Backed up by a moderately sweet pale malt- not grainy, but rather more of a honey biscuit sweetness.

F- Moderately strong citrus flavours, more of tangerines and orange zest, a bit of tropical fruits, backed up by honey, biscuits of the malt backbone. Mild-moderate citrus bitterness follows through, not particularly bitter.

M- Medium bodied, well-carbonated, nice slight fizziness to it. Slick initially with a moderately drying finish with traces of oranges.

O- A very solid, tasty IPA. Nice orange-forward flavours that gets away from the usual grapefruit+pine combination that's so popular these days.

Pour into a pilsner glass that yields a healthy two inch head that lasts a time, time and a half. Cloudy pale yellow. Best lacing I've seen in awhile.

Citrus, hoppy, piney, grassy earthy aromas. Sweet malt.

Hoppy bitter onrush. Citrus and pine flavours. Malt sweetness balances this. Grapefruit rind and Sugar Smacks cereal. Dankness ensues.

Medium body and finishes dry.

Its like Half Acre is setting the standard for IPAs. Truly a classic nailed. A lot of hop/malt structure with dankness. Nice to see a local attainable brew from a brewery with a lot of success. Can we expect Heydoka Dos in the near future? Tremendously tremendous!
