Formerly Heyoka IPA and Senita IPA

GoneAway is a western charged firecracker. We conjured the classics and then laid them on a bed of pale malt. This India Pale Ale shoots straight to the bitter edge before falling into a mellow haze. Deep gold and ready to travel into the distance.

good stuff, worth having but no 93 by my rank.
L: Drinking from the can and it's a looker...
S: mild aroma. bit of peach and lemon.
T: a bit spicy. astringent. looking for hop flavors but it's a bit muddled. some peach and citrus rind. definite bitterness on the finish. pleasant but non descript on the front end. not really feeling it...
F: fine. nice carbonation level.
O: the more i taste it, the more it's not really working for me. hoping it works better for you...

16oz can purchased from the fridge as part of a 4-pack for $11.99. Canned on 9/28/21, so this is 27 days old.

Look: Pours out a nearly clear deep gold color. There was a nice frothy one-finger off white head on the pour, that slowly receded to leave behind some nice lacing.

Smell: This smells like a super fresh West Coast IPA. A dank, peppery nose of pine resin, papaya, peach, and citrus rind. There seems to be a nice malt backbone too; I detect some caramel malts - maybe even some butterscotch. I wish that the nose was a bit more expressive, but I guess this is typical for West Coast IPAs.

Taste: I wasn't that impressed from the nose alone, but this is really crushable and delicious on the palate. The carbonation is perfect and the beer is just so well balanced with malt and hops. Up front, it is a bit peppery, slightly spicy and has notes of bread crust. The finish is dry and moderately bitter with lots of grapefruit rind and pith. I really get the chinook flavor lingering on the finish - that bitter, spicy, woody character that the chinook hop imparts so well. Another cool thing is that after the hop resin and bitterness fade from the finish, I can pick up a bit of caramel sweetness on the palate.

Feel: The mouthfeel is surprisingly light, in a good way. It just makes it so drinkable. It has just a bit of chew to it. It is also perfectly carbonated.

Overall: Another very well-made Half Acre beer. If you are looking for a classic West-Coast IPA, you can't do much better than this one. I'm lucky that this beer gets distributed here; apparently they only distribute it in-house and to the Philadelphia area.

From the website:
Chinook and Simcoe because nothing does classic like these pillars of flavor.
Two row, pale malt, Gold Pils Vienna
Sensory: Conifer Sap, Chillum Resin, Light Dank & Citrus

16 oz can, canned on 3/18/19. Pours slightly hazy dark gold with a medium creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet malt with fruity hops with a little resin.

The flavor is sweet earthy malt with sharp green resiny bitter hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a decent IPA. A bit too sharp for me.
