On tap during a recent trip to Chicago...

A - Almost two fingers worth of rich frothy white head... The color is an interesting mix of pale straw and vibrant orange... There is a distinct haziness throughout... Loaded with moderate paced carbonation... A good bit of lacing clings to the glass...

S - A wonderful array of hops are at the forefront... A mix of pine and citrus... There is a solid enough malt base lying beneath the surface that is characterized in terms of biscuit and light caramel notes... Some light grassy and floral notes as well...

T - The hops are present and at the forefront, but not nearly as potent as alluded to by the aroma... There is a solid bready malt base along with some grassy and spice notes... Perhaps some light lemon zest notes as well...

M - Medium bodied... Fairly smooth... Decent bit of slightly prickly carbonation... Even and consistent...

D - I had mixed feelings on this one as it was a little more than than the sum of parts given this one's immense quaffability and relatively low 5.2% ABV. On the flip-side this one was a bit of a disappointment given its hefty praise. All things being equal this is an easy drinking, highly sessionable, fairly tasty brew with a moderate hop presence.

Serving: Can into pint
Served: 21 April 2014

Appearance: Deep golden yellow with a slight copperish tint at times. Pours with a one finger head that sticks around for a good while and diminishes to a light sheen of bubbles on the top. Incredible lacing on the glass.

Smell: WOW. You open the can and before you even get it poured into a glass you're already assaulted by massive floral hop notes. After pouring it into a glass the nose is dominated by a massive bouquet of floral hoppiness with a noticeable sweetness associated with it. Smells very clean and very intense- nearly IPA like.

Taste: Magnificent taste. A bit more assertive in hoppiness than SNPA and just a bit less so than Zombie Dust. The massive aroma hops don't translate as powerfully in the taste, but the body of the beer is nonetheless dominated by floral hoppiness. The malt backbone provides nice depth and body. The beer finishes drier than I was expecting from an APA.

Mouthfeel: Great effervescent carbonation, refreshing.

Overall: An incredible APA. Easily one of my top 3 overall. The incredible aroma and flavor are rounded out by a supreme drinkability. At 5.2% it won't knock you out, and I could easily drink three of these without feeling fatigued in both sobriety and palate. A fantastic APA that I highly recommend everyone try. Will be a go-to offering for me whenever I'm home in IL.

No canning date, poured into a pint glass

A- Pours a clear golden color with a small fizzy white head that reduces to leave just a small later on top, bubbles floating to the top of the glass

S- big aroma of flowery hops mixed with a berry-like fruitiness, pine sap, flower water, citrus rind and fresh mint. Light malty sweetness compliments the hops nearly perfectly, very nice

T- flowery hops from the aromas follow to the taste. Also picking up hoppy notes of pine, leafy & grassy flavors, slightly danky. Faint underlying toasted malt allows the hops to shine

M- medium body with medium prickly carbonation, leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp, dry finish

O- this is one of the best APA's I've had in a while, showcasing a nice hop bill yet keeping all of the drinkability of the style. Unfortunately my only can, would gladly buy again if given the chance
