Poured from a can into a tumbler.

Appearance: Hazy yellow topped off with a thick, fluffy white head.

Smell: Pretty grainy, as I expected, but with a bit of a citrusy pop and a background of yeast.

Taste: Very grainy, but not overwhelmingly malty or sweet. It has a lemony note and a surprising amount of bite from the hops. Very, very impressed with this one.

Mouthfeel: Not too much carbonation, which makes for a very smooth drinking ale.

Overall: I'll definitely be tossing these back for most of the upcoming summer. This is the embodiment of what a session ale should be.

Thanks to Pawola22 for sending me this canned beer.

The beer pours a yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is fairly simple but is very inviting. I get a lot of biscuit malt and some orange citrus notes from the hops.

The flavor is heavy on the oranges and biscuit malt, with a little bit of light toffee and grassy notes. Low bitterness.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice, light to medium hopped blonde ale.

From notes: 30OCT2010
Can purchased from West Lakeview and poured into mug.

Tasty orangecicle in a glass. Hoppy as a american pale and easier to drink than a pilsner. This tasty little diddy did me just right as a warmer than expected Chicago afternoon session brew. I may or may not have crushed one on of these on a bench whilst the "Rally to Restore Sanity" was going on in the distance.

Great session brew.

Gold with yellow and brass hues. Slight chill haze.

Grain, dust, chaff, dried lemon zest, plastic, rubber bands, banana oil and ritz crackers.

Grain, cabbage and a slightly burnt flavor. Medium level of carbonation.

Medium- body and slightly watery around the edges.

I wonder if I got a bad batch. The beer was just odd. Tasted at the tap room.

Many thanks to my sister Laura for this one. a new brew from a Chicago brewery. 4.2% ABV, I love a good session brew!

This is also #BOTG 27!

Poured from can into DFH snifter. Pours a murky yellow/orange color. decent lacing and head retention. small bubbles come up from the bottom of the glass. Smell- there is a floral aroma..reminds me of potpourri and popcorn. Buttery aroma. Orange peel as well. Taste- mild bitterness with an unwanted soapy experience. somewhat watery. A little coriander, lemon peel. This lacks body, sweetness, and is a little high on carbonation. I suppose if in the summer, this would drink well from the can if it was a little colder. But, this isn't that memorable. A little bleh.

Thank you vande for sending this as an extra!
A: a darker hue of yellow with a fluffy 3 finger white head
S: sweet cereal grains with a tangerine and peppery bite
T: hard to decipher the exact flavors but they're delicious. Peppery bite and a mild sweetness with a hint of citrus
M: smooth light body that has a light fizziness.
O: this isn't your average yellow fizzy beer! This stuff packs a punch of flavors! If you come across this then pick some up as these would be perfect over a hot summery day. Very sessionable at 4.2%.

Half Acre Gossamer Golden Ale
16 oz. can, no apparent freshness dating

Gossamer Golden Ale pours a slightly hazy deep golden body beneath a bright white head that holds fairly well and leaves some smears and splashes of lace about the glass.

The aroma expresses a basic golden malt base infused with lightly floral & grassy hops.

In the mouth it offers a light-medium body and median carbonation.

The flavor is fuller than the nose suggests, starting with a bit of golden malt that's bolstered by a touch of caramel, which is then immediately washed over by grassy, resinous, piney, and lightly citrusy hops. It's fairly bitter given the malt component that balances it, and in that sense I'd term it "solidly bitter" regardless of how many IBU's are actually there. It finishes dry at first, grassy and a bit raspy, and then softer with a lingering bitterness.

As you work through the pint and it warms, some variations occur. It's at first very piney with a citrus-rind edge, then grassy mid-way, and finally some bready malt emerges by the time it's lost its chill.

Overall, it really doesn't balance well. Just throwing hops at a beer does not make it interesting or complex, just hoppy. One trick pony.

on-tap, Pequods. just getting around to rating this one - have sampled a number of times

cellphone notes

appearance: light golden body, very light beige foam - looks the part

smell: a touch of those half acre hops, light toasted malt, touch of citrus

taste: Gossamer is a simple blonde ale - serves it purpose before a Cubs game or paired with a massive deep dish pie. Light malts, faint citrus hops, and grain fill out the flavor profile

mouthfeel: light and crisp

drinkability: good

Having a can of Half Acre Gossamer Golden Ale after a Wednesday Hockey game (2G, 5A) in a 9-2 win. The beer pours a golden straw color with thin white head that is leaving a mild lace. The smell is nice with a slight citrus hop. The taste is a combo of floral and citrus tones that leaves the pallet a bit bitter and acidic. I am guessing that Columbus hops were used....but I am no expert. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodies Ales with good carbonation. Overall it isnt a bad beer. Would be great on hot days.

From a schooner at the Portillo's in downtown Chicago. Definitely a nice complement to the excellent hotdogs, but nothing terribly special. Very drinkable blonde ale with a semi-sweet nose. Well balanced malt and slight hops taste. Could have used a little more hop flavor actually. I wasn't looking for something to blow me away, just a nice, drinkable beer with lunch.

Got this from kenm2118, cheers Ken!

Pours hay colored with 2 fingers of cream colored head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Floral hops & breadyness

T: Follows the nose, some lemony notes as well up front, hay & grassy flavors as well. Grassyness, lemony notes & hint of grainy bread once warm. Finishes with firm crispness, grainyness & slight malty sweetness

MF: Light bodied with firm carbonation, good balance, but a little more malt depth would've helped the cause

Always thrilled to try beers from these guys, this is nice sessionable blond ale that goes down too easy in this plus 90 degree weather here now
