Blind Beer #8, 16 oz. can poured into my Lost Abbey stem.

Pours a just slightly hazy straw yellow with a giant whitish head. Looks nice. - 4.0

The smell is definitely different - grainy and a bit yeasty with a suggestion of hops. I am thrown for a loop on this one - it is most certainly no IPA. -3.5

Bready and grainy flavors are layered under a surprising hop presence and lightly sweet finish. An unexpected amount of flavor based on the lighter appearance, milder nose and lighter body. -3.5

The body is light with a good carbonation level. -4.0

Overall, this beer is relatively drinkable - it's like a refined version of a BMC with a hop back to it. The touch of sweetness and hop bitterness help to cover up some of the graininess which isn't my favorite. - 3.5

Reveal: Half Acre Gossamer! I've also seen this in stores many times, but always reached for the Daisy Cutter. Really interesting. 4.2% Golden Ale is not exactly what I was thinking, but I guess it makes sense. Thanks for another beer I've been meaning to try!

Thank you vande for sending this as an extra!
A: a darker hue of yellow with a fluffy 3 finger white head
S: sweet cereal grains with a tangerine and peppery bite
T: hard to decipher the exact flavors but they're delicious. Peppery bite and a mild sweetness with a hint of citrus
M: smooth light body that has a light fizziness.
O: this isn't your average yellow fizzy beer! This stuff packs a punch of flavors! If you come across this then pick some up as these would be perfect over a hot summery day. Very sessionable at 4.2%.

Can generously gifted by Chaney. Thanks Brandon.

The beer is golden hued with a half inch of white head. The aroma brings some grain, along with some tropical citrus notes. The flavor offers a lot of grain, with some musty citrus. Very bready. Easy to drink, though I would prefer the balance favor the hop profile a bit more than the grain. Light feel and smooth on the palate. Overall, highly drinkable. A great choice for the warmer months.

First BA review! From notes, thanks to ElGigante for the extra in a trade.

A ppearance - milky golden hue with plenty of rising carbonation, the nice head dissipates slowly.

S mell - clean, definte presence of hops, fresh and piney

T aste - lots of grains, slightly sweet but not overwhelming

M outhfeel - mild carbonation present, and very even and smooth

O verall - solid beer, decent sessionable type, but blondes are not my favorite

Gossamer (definition) - A soft sheer gauzy fabric. Something delicate, light, or flimsy.

Presently, this is the #7 ranked Blonde Ale here on BA.

A: This didn't look like any blonde ale I've ever had: Definitely on the dark side of the gold spectrum, with a slight murkiness, and a massive 3 finger or so cobweb-like head that looked like a mound of snow just sitting there.

S: Fresh clean cotton, with a touch of citrus, and tons of fresh raw bread dough.

T: This had the taste of bread and white pepper, with just the right touch of sweetness. The finish had that divine quality of a beer just taken out of the mashtun.

M: Sure, maybe this had a hint of white pepper which added a touch of bitterness, but this wasn't a rough brew by any stretch of the imagination... Quite the contrary. The carbonation added an extra comfortable cushion to the yeastiness, and the lacing was used car wash stuff.

O: This one totally embodies the idea of the "session beer" to my mind. I could drink this all day, and can't wait to bring a couple of these back home so that a couple of my BA peeps can experience the magic!

Poured from the can into a 20oz Guinness pint glass. My slow pour left little more than a ring of head around the glass with some pretty sticky lacing. It's a very transparent, clear, diluted orange juice colored beer. The scent is a faint lemon aroma with touches of wet wood and funk.

The tastes is really well balanced: nice citrus bitterness up front, a little malty sweetness in the middle, and it finishes with a combination between vanilla and sour. Light bodied and easy to drink, it's not as fizzy as one would expect. Overall, one of my standbys, particularly in the summer.

Having a can of Half Acre Gossamer Golden Ale after a Wednesday Hockey game (2G, 5A) in a 9-2 win. The beer pours a golden straw color with thin white head that is leaving a mild lace. The smell is nice with a slight citrus hop. The taste is a combo of floral and citrus tones that leaves the pallet a bit bitter and acidic. I am guessing that Columbus hops were used....but I am no expert. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodies Ales with good carbonation. Overall it isnt a bad beer. Would be great on hot days.

thank you crushedvol!

a - cracked the can and filled my E snifter. the 16 oz and head filled the glass to the brim with a heaping portion of foamy frothy head. the head slowly dissipated away leaving chunks on the side of the glass. color was a soft orange...semi transparent.

s - earthy malts with a hint of fruit juices.

t - nice subtle blonde.

m - very nice full mouth. a full rich smoothness with an even carbonation level.

o - overall, this is not a style that i jump for joy over, but hi enjoyed this beer a lot. great example and smooth mouth...this is a beer that i could drink all day long in the summer. another great beer from a great brewery.

Consumed 12/9/11

Appearance: Mostly clear, bright golden colored - starts off with a nice, white head and some surprisingly sticky lacing, bubbly

Smell: Mild, but definitely not offensive - some pale, pale malts - bready, doughy - some serious grass - not herbal, just like fresh cut grass, kind of strange - a small hint of citrus, too

Taste: Also mild, but in a good way - lightly toasted white bread - some flowery citrus - a touch of grapefruit, lemon, some herbal spiciness - grassy - slightly bitter, slightly sweet, nicely balanced

Mouthfeel: Very light, nicely carbonated, somewhat crisp

Overall: Good, but not that interesting

This is definitely good, but it's not something I am disappointed that I can't get regularly. It's good for the style, but it could be better. I'm not particularly a fan of the grassy aroma. Maybe because I am allergic to grass?
