thank you yeahnatenelson for hooking this one up with the new half acre tulip. enjoyed for the first time together. from the batch just released.
a - cracked the bottle and filled the tulip...brew poured a hazy orange that was semi transparent (when holding to the light, i could see my hand, but that was about it...this puppy is murky). really nice white frothy and foamy head...IPAish, but whhhite. very chunky milkshake like lacing. seems like i'm in for a treat!
s - sweet citric blast with a trail off of thick sweaty piny resinous hop. without a doubt, this is the same hop bill as it's younger brother.
t - wow...super resinous. like a sweaty sticky piny explosion in my mouth. where is that wonderful sweetness from the citric blast in the nose...just drowned out by thick chunkiness. finishes with a quick slap of bitterness.
m - mouth is surprisingly watery. finish is strong bitterness that fades in my mouth fast.
o - overall, not a double ipa (not sure if it ever claimed to be)...more an imperial pale ale (even though that is I.P.A. they are vastly different). feels like a double shot of daisy cutter once it hits my mouth. that being said, daisy cutter is great on it's own and doesn't really need the double treatment...unless that is...the DOUBLE GALACTIC variety. pretty good, very glad i got a taste, but this aint no double galactic daisy cutter. it is however a richer thicker (and stronger) version of daisy cutter which will always be a winner in my book.

On tap at Eataly - Chicago, IL
L - amber in color, huge rocky ivory head leaves some lacing on the glass
S - awesome nose, tropical, honey, caramel, floral hop, refreshing
T - bold and fairly balanced with tropical fruit, mango, grapefruit, toasty, nutty grain, pine, fruit, floral hop, caramel
F - medium body, alcohol is noticeable but warming, finishes dry with lingering piny, grapefruity bitterness and a little bit of residual sweetness
O - really solid DIPA! Love how the high dose of toasty grain complements the bitterness.

A: Pours a hazy dark orange color with one inch of white head. Nice lacing that sticks to the glass.
S: Big bready aroma with citrus pine with some strawberry and candied fruits. Some floral notes as well, appealing aroma but doesn't punch you in the face.
T: Big bready hit on the front end as well. Then on the back end has a bitterness that lingers with strawberry, orange, grapefruit and some mild pine.
M: Medium chewy body with sturdy carbonation. Semi harsh bitterness and nice and dry on the finish. Nicely attenuated.
O: Overall I really enjoyed this beer and love the dry finish. Was hoping for more and find it to be a little over-hyped in my opinion but not bad. I would drink again but not fight to get it as well.
