Spinal meningitis got you down? Half Acre's Freedom of '78 is here to help!
Pours a brilliant shade of golden-orange with just a smidge of head to its credit.
The aroma of this beer is nothing short of a knockout. A vibrant citrus scent emanates from the glass, tugging me closer with every sniff. Tropical citrus at its most intense.
Well, yeah, it's delicious. Huge hop punch right up from with a softly sweet finish that ends up finishing mercifully clean. No lingering hoppy cloyingness (a la Shewolf) here.
The only knock on this beer is that there is a surprisingly high degree of oiliness on the finish, which is a real shame given how clean the actual taste is. If HA can figure out a way to tweak this (like they have done with Gossamer) this could be an all-time great.
I'm almost done with the growler, is that an indicator of drinkability? One of the best to come out of Half Acre, and that's saying something. Gumballhead has a very local competitor for the title of best hopped-up wheat beer.
Serving type: growler
