Notes/Commercial Description:
Novemberfest Beer

As a brewery, we haven’t been brewing lagers for a while. This or that has kept us distanced from that world, but we’re dipping back in with a release that’s coming to you on Friday 10/28. You can expect a beer that’s much like an Octoberfest, with a sturdy malt frame, but cloaked under the cover of October’s timely neighbor, November. Come see us and take a drive through Lager Town.

(Served in a dimple mug)
A- This beer pours a slight garnet hue to a clear slightly dense brown body and a thin beige head that soon breaks up. There is a sea of tiny bubbles racing to the surface.

S- The dry toasted malt note is soft but has a nice flinty mineral finish to it.

T- The dry toasted biscuit malt grows into more of a straight biscuit malt flavor as it opens with Noble hop note in the finish. There is a roasted malt bitterness and toast note that lingers in the aftertaste.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a watery texture that leads to a scrubbing fizz in the finish.

O- This beer has a nice aroma and good malt flavor but the bitterness and big fizz grow a bit to much and are enhanced by the dryness in the finish.

Deep saturated copper amber color, sheets of lace in the glass, lasting coverage on the surface that has a creamy texture. Bright clarity with rising trails of visible carbonation.

Clean mild hop aroma, some general yeastiness, the toasted malt character is missing however.

Smooth feel, lightly malty, earthy and toasty grain husks, light bitterness that lingers in the finish. Dry and not sweet, clean and more bitter than most traditional Oktoberfests. Nuanced hop character, not overt, though the bitterness seems to define it. Overall very drinkable, enjoyable and subtle.

Had on tap at the half acre tap room. Pours a medium amber color with a nice head.

Balanced and good aromas of citrus, crackers, and cereal notes.

Medium body that is slightly lacking on the feel. It does make up for it with really good notes of grains, citrus, some bits of hops and cereals.

A very good lager. Not amazing, but very drinkable.

Poured from a 64oz growler into two pint glasses. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist!

A: Pours a lovely, unfiltered, deep amber color with two creamy fingers of off white head on top. Retention was fleeting with the foam quickly melting down to a thin collar that left no lace.

S: Whoa! Nice toasty biscuits drizzled with lemony hops.

T: Big flavors of toasted bread crusts, lemony hops, caramel malt, and bright fresh oak. Heather said it reminded her a little of Malt-O-Meal. Some subtle grapiness towards the finish.

M: Really quite full and spicy. Loads of sticky hops and dry toasted grains. Totally not what we were expecting.

O: A stupid good Lager. Perfect beer for a true Fall day...like today!

22oz bottle received via Growling at the Moon. Thanks for the brew, Gonzo Illini!

Poured into a Half Acre glass, formed a 1/2" beige head over the slightly cloudy orangey amber brew. Head holds on well, with lasting lace. Aroma is malty yet citrusy as well.

Taste starts with nutty malt sweetness, citrus and pine in the middle, and comes home with a balnced bitterness. Mouthfeel is soft and smooth, and drinkability is great. Good brew.

Served in a tumbler at Firkin.

Stickin' by the Half Acre station at Solidarity to try out this "Novemberfest". It pours a clear brass-amber topped by a couple o' fingers of cream-white foam. The nose comprises caramel, wheat, light clove, and light brown sugar. The taste holds notes of bitter grass, light menthol, light caramel, mild biscuit, and miscellaneous greens. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slick-ish feel. Overall, an okay O-Fest (well, N-Fest, in this case, I guess...), but one that just seems a bit too bitter for its own good. The hops just don't meld very well the malty backbone at all.
