An India Pale Ale we brewed with coastal spirit. This hop crasher sharply dives into the very deep waters of bitter beers.

Can dated 6/21:
Nearly opaque yellow golden body with a big tuft of white foam top it. Nose takes a little while to open up and show a hint of tropical fruit inside a melange of citrus fruit peel. There's a hint of bubblegum and the last embers of joint popping in and out. Taste starts a bit lighter than expected from the look, with the malts not providing a lot to grab hold of. A hit of tropical tang meets tangerine up front, a more typical grapefruit pith ending with a nice, bitter linger.

poured from a 16oz can into a FFF DLD nonic pint glass. pours a foggy but light orange with a two finger firm white foam cap. citrus, pine, mixed berry on the nose and taste. the berry aromas really pop on the nose. it’s fairly bitter and dry on the finish. medium-full mouthfeel. crisp and dry finish. really good IPA. east coast meets west coast. damn smooth, just bitter enough with a complimentary juiciness. one of half acre’s many solid hoppy offerings and one that i’ve been drinking on and off for years and never rated or reviewed.

It's not dark enough to be a barley malt emphasized brew, but the initial pour went well. A pint can emptied into a clear glass liter mug produced no ridiculous white froth, just a modest head. It's white and it rests on top of a lightly colored golden-amber liquid, which isn't dense, but is opaque. The aroma is mild, with some basic hops and a grain that is likely oats, maybe wheat. The taste is moderately hoppy, in a citrus and piney way. The emphasis must be on moderately. The body is good enough to carry the hops, but not noteworthy. There's no counterbalance to this decently hopped brew here. The glass lacing just might be a little better than its body, relatively. This is another that's not a stand out, nor a bad brew.

For a minute, I wondered why the label appears to be a paint by numbers of a seashore scene, possibly California. And then I got it.

Clear, bright golden hue, small ivory head above.

In the nose: floral, citrus, lemon zest, orange rind, grapefruit, together in harmony.

In the mouth: liquid sunshine explodes on the palate. Hop bitterness blasts over the tongue and down the throat. Powerful and expressive, yet balanced and palatable. Medium bodied, easily consumed, highly Hopped. Refreshing and exceptionally likable. I would never say no to another.

Can dated 02/21/22. Drinking tired on a mostly empty stomach after a long but rewarding work week.

L: classic yellowish ipa body, white multi finger head with a lot of lacing. Pretty standard.

S: smells like a good ol malt heavy ipa. The light malt and earthy hops are joined with citrus and pepper. Standard for the style.

T: it starts to separate itself. Much lighter than the nose hints to. Oddly enough it’s still got a lot of complexity and balance despite none of the flavors really coming to the forefront for long. It starts off almost tasting like malty cereal milk, then the hop backbone lightly makes its presence known and lingers a bit, before a citrus peppery aftertaste finishes it off. A little overwhelming after about a glass but otherwise I liked it.

F: starts almost creamy, it’s carbonated and refreshing. Despite all that it has a nice medium body. Reminds me a bit of a near-perfectly executed hazy oatmeal IPA.

O: really really well put together. A little cloying for me but I like it. After a good meal and sleep I bet it’s even better. Only drank a bomber of it, definitely warrants a revisit.
