Notes/Commercial Description:
OK warriors, we're co-hosting a beer that's to be delivered from our brew deck to your ceremonial chalice. We've again brewed with our cohorts at Three Floyds Brewing Co and have given birth to the sludge of angels, Anicca India Pale. Anicca IPA is single hopped snake juice showcasing the Mosaic hop, a plant throwing off a cornucopia of fruit flavors. Bitter sweet and full of force, this IPA bends your brain into a tropical storm of writhing glory. As the philosophy explains, Anicca will come and go, so come sip this before all is gone.

Draft and cask only at the Half Acre Tap Room.

Thanks, bstyle!

A gorgeous IPA. Very sticky with an incredibly persistent head. Asides from that, this is an above average IPA, and very good by Midwest standards. A nice collection of bitterness along with some dank, citrus, and pine notes. Drinkable, and impressive for the Midwest. That being said, if this was brewed in San Diego, people would overlook this as just another average IPA. The inflated scores on this beer are some of the most ridiculous I've ever seen. Why hype an IPA? Just drink it, fools.

Dark and hazy copper body. A nice dense half inch of head with spotty lacing.

It's one of the most pungent beers I've ever put my nose in. Dank, loads of tropical fruits like mango, papaya, and pineapple, some tangerine. I smells juicy as hell.

Great tropical fruit flavor. The tangerine and mango stand out most. There's a touch of pine in the finish and the finish is long and strong. There's a touch of fusel spice at the end.

Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of moderate but good carbonation.

This is the best beer I've had from HA, and that's saying a lot. I wish it was bottled.

Dark reddish brown with a murky haze, and a saturated orange glint in the bottom of the glass. Thin layer of foam on top with a lasting skim on the surface. Delicate ring of dripping lacework around the edges of the glass.

Pungent hop aroma, tangerine citrus, a little catty dankness and resiny greenery around the edges.

Pleasantly bitter with a resinous hop oil character, grapefruit zest and bitter fruit flesh. Light feel but approaching medium bodied, pretty smooth and well carbed. Resiny dry aftertaste. Anicca is a really nice drinker, hope they can secure the Mosaic to keep this in regular rotation.

Reviewing Anicca, a collaboration IPA brewed by Three Floyds Brewing Company (Munster, Indiana) and Half Acre Brewing Company (Chicago, Illinois).

Score: 95

Tap pour served in a Half Acre snifter-tulip hybrid glass and enjoyed on 03/01/13. Review is from iPhone notes

Appearance: Bourbon colored body. Served with one finger of cream colored head that settles to a thin foggy coating. Awesome lacing and retention. 5/5

Smell: Dank hops, tangerine, melon, peach and apricot. Nice tropical citrus nose. Pineapple juice and pine too. Perfectly balanced, nice juiciness and hoppiness. A little fruity too. 4.75/5

Taste: Tastes just like it smells but with a heavier malt-orientation and less "bitting hoppiness" than anticipated from nose. Earthy spice too, a little resinous. Nice bitter citrus finish after the swallow. Smoother drinking than anticipated, but I was hoping for more of a in-your-face hop bomb from the nose. Tasty enough to overcome my expectation disappointment. 4.5/5

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, low carbonation. Frankly, I think this brew is slightly under-carbonated. Nice zesty citrus which is bitter and juicy. Finishes a little dry. 4/5

Overall: An excellent IPA from two hop masters. Well worth the trip to the Half Acre tap room to try this taproom only release.

Cost: $6 for a 16 oz snifter pour.
