Thanks to my sister for making the trip to Munster and snagging me a couple o' dees.
bomber into Belgian tumbler
A - Lovely warm reddish amber. Some visible carbonation rising through a slight haze. Custard/white creamy like cappuccino head, one and one half fingers dissipates to a millimeter film over a minute or so. Left a considerable amount of lacing.
S - My first thought was just, "This smells like a FFF beer." I guess something in the hop character they go for, or maybe the house yeast. Always has light citrus tinge and a bit of sweetness that comes through enticingly well. This is the case here, as well as some grassiness lightly sprinkled with cat piss.
T- Not as hop forward as I thought, although i accidentally smoked a spliff about 15 minutes ago. Whoops. Mostly some pine, which sticks and lingers, but a nice fruitiness too. Bitterness dominates towards the end, but my palate is neither wrecked, ruined, younger, etc. Real nice juicy grape fruit as it hits the tongue. Sadly not wildly malty, little bit of caramel gets to the tip of the tongue, but this is definitely one for the hop heads.
M- Pretty light bodied, medium carbonation. Not super sticky, but still a bit of dryness.
O - Two of my favorite breweries, so that's fun. I kinda wish they had gone for something a little bolder together, but then again, with things like Navaja, Alpha King, Daisy Cutter, the Dust, etc. this is comfortable territory for both. Is that a good thing? It's certainly drinking well. Reasonable at $8 bucks a bomber for novelty/limited availability, but don't hate yourself if you miss this one.
